  • Summary: Crooked Fingers' Eric Bachmann returns as producer for the third album from the duo of Orenda Fink and Maria Taylor.
Score distribution:
  1. Positive: 4 out of 6
  2. Negative: 0 out of 6
  1. This is not a record of ballads for emo fans.... This album is a collection of proper songs.
  2. Under The Radar

A heart-rending and romantic album without being overly dramatic. [#5, p.98]
  3. Orenda Fink and Maria Taylor use spare electronics, acoustic guitars and subtle strings to back up their arty lyrics about gentle lovers and broken hearts.
  4. Unfortunately, Hold on Love's more serene moments only weaken the lure of their more intricate and involved songs, ultimately underscoring the group's true strengths.
  5. Often, the space created by their work feels like a teenager's bedroom with the door shut; while you know some serious sulking is happening on the other side, you know also that the misery is an indulgent luxury, a comfortable retreat from the real pain that comes from actually struggling to fix things.
  6. The two have captured a cohesiveness that was lacking on previous Azure Ray albums.
Score distribution:
  1. Positive: 1 out of 1
  2. Mixed: 0 out of 1
  3. Negative: 0 out of 1

Their lyrics are tight and catch exactly what needs to be caught. Their voices blend together to create some of the most intoxicating sounds I've heard. This is one of the best bands out there right now. Their solo projects are also amazing. Expand
