This is an album whose bone-deep grief sits inside music that’s very easy to tap a toe to.

What's being attempted here is sensational, an unmissable combination of common emotions and abstract anxieties that shouldn’t work. And yet, when Lindeman shares with us, these songs explode with the air of something incredible.

Instrumentally, Ignorance transcends the traditional folk that The Weather Station tirelessly perfected over the previous four albums. With an ever-expanding palette of sonics at her disposal, Lindeman weaves these tales of turmoil and regret through the usage of everything possible – horns, strings, several subtle non-acoustic guitars, and most prominently the piano. To reach the levels of awareness she sought required another level of sound, and it crackles throughout Ignorance.

Ignorance, solidifies the 36 year-old as one of the most audaciously inventive auteurs working in the broad singer-songwriter tradition. This ten song collection broadens the Weather Station’s sonic palette by foregrounding fluttering flutes, crisp orchestral sections, and, most importantly, a propulsive rhythm section.

'Ignorance' is a well-crafted and heart-felt piece of work that dances seamlessly through the caverns of dark and light, a perfect offering to hold onto with hope.

As a whole, Ignorance can carry an audience through beautiful arrangements and atmosphere. However, and perhaps as a result of the beauty of the music and her delivery, Lindeman’s goal of delivering emotional lyrics hits shy of the mark. Instead, we’re left hanging on to every note.

The first seven songs are very coherent, the first five songs are one, It's a little soft at the end, but it's still great. A lot of people who don't like this album are obsessed with the repetitive drumming and find it boring, but maybe you could focus on the lyrics, and the little, subtle details. "robber"–The jazz element at the end of the song, In "Atlantic", the synthesizer imitates the sound of the shearwaters, and the magnificent atmosphere of the sunset dyed the water red. about parking lot(one of my favorite songs )Help! The lyrics are so good, I get goose bumps every time I hear a piece of sky hanging from the ceiling and a few words describe a heavy sense of helplessness. The finale is just like the scene mentioned at the beginning of the song, and the strings are like birds singing through the traffic, through the noise, until the climax, and the curtain call. The total feeling is not only a musical point, but also a kind of aesthetics. Expand

Who knew grief would prove to be the tenor of the times? Ignorance charts it every bit as exquisitely as Cassandra Jenkins' remarkable Overview on Phenomenal Nature. Subdivisions could have been written in the car alongside Jenkins' on Hard Drive. And it's every bit as astounding. Can't imagine anything bettering these two any time soon. Expand

What an album. So full of beautiful surprises.
Tamara Lindeman's voice is so soft it is a blessing that it accompanies us for this marvelous journey, the time of an album. Despite the tone and the melody evoked by this heavenly voice, the themes addressed are often questioning, making us wander, think and explore in peace and tenderness.
The mixing and arrangements are as gorgeous as the instrumentation. All instruments sound pure, clear and in an ethereal beautiful way as they compliment that shivering voice. Subtly varied enough to make us envy the next song.
Each track is an invitation to chill, feel a whole palette of emotions and dream.
