Boring uninspired lyrics, overly ambitious arena rock with 80's influences. This albums hits are few and far between. The only song which was above mediocre is Life Is a Fear but even that reaches the bare minimum requirement for a dark wave/ post punk song, which I believe is the genre Editors thrive in, the genre which made them a cult classic with their first album. Go listen to Muse instead of this album, at least they have charisma and character. Expand

All the songs are mediocre. They don't know what they are trying to do. This is poorest album of the year! It's a huge disappointment that this band became such a boredoom. 80's influences without a doubt, but they are not capable to recreate the 80's vibe! In a few months this album will be in the trash bin.

Atler more than two years waiting for a new record by Editors, I was pretty sure it would be better than the mediocre effort titled The Weight of Your Love! Of course there was a big excuse for that difficult 4th record: two new musicians working with the band (or in the band... if anyones knows...) The band gifted all the fans with the track NO HARM, then MARCHING ORDERS and the single Life Is A Fear (Editors Are A Fear is a much more appropriated title in the moment). No Harm brings emptiness with that musical background... ahhh I don't let me fall asleep... A boring album opener that forces me finger to click "Skip". A very simple track that an average producer can easily create at home in 5 minutes. Marching Orders is the best track in the album in my opinion but the last part of the song is really boring... Oh God, 1 minute of that outro was more than enough! It's an ok track despite the shallow lyrics (which is normal on this record)... Life is a Fear is the worst single so far released by this band. They tried to do what??? Papillon??? Maybe, but they forgot to add some inspiration to it. Another problem is that the band don't know how to produce an album... Hey guys, you need much more to produce an average track!
In general the album In Dream has the wrong title: it should be In Nightmare. The quality of the tracks is 0 (exeption for Marching Orders and for the chorus on Salvation). There's no excuse for the band now. I have the album in my hands, played it for a long time now (promo copy, thank you) and I really feel I wasted money for nothing! It's ridiculous that Editors are the owners of miserable tracks such has "Our Love" (no, this is not Editors, it's a real nightmare), "Ocean of Night", "All The Kings! Well, Editors are really far from the first 3 albums quality... They might be selling good in the Netherlands and Belgium... but I am really happy to be away from a crap band that used to be great! "Forgiveness" is needed for Tom Smith.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I listened to the album and all the tracks are boring! This is not the same band unfortunately. The album artwork is a disappointment (only Tom on the cover, why?), the lyrics did not inspire anything. This is a Dreamy album? Of course not. Editors are nothing now. Bye Editors RIP. Expand

Bold, occasionally baffling, and utterly unlike anything the band has done before. [Nov-Dec 2015, p.69]

Unfortunately, it’s an LP which simply lacks reward... Both for listeners and, ultimately, the band.

In Dreams skirts a line of uncertainty between if the album is too over-populated or if the listener is too feint of heart.
