It’s too early to tell if the record will help the BTS leader achieve his goal of creating something truly timeless but, in this moment, ‘Indigo’ feels like a masterpiece with the potential to be remembered as a classic.

Indigo, which RM describes as “a sun-bleached record faded like old jeans,” feels like a gift to his own creative spirit as much as it does a gift to the listeners.

Indigo is an adventurous sonic portrait of RM’s inner world, the work of an artist who finds his voice by bringing together the influences that resonate with his soul.

Indigo is an eye-opening taste of what RM is truly capable of outside the bounds of the K-pop powerhouse.

With his new album RM demonstrates a sense of growth. Weaving throughout each track, RM feels vividly present. Through the inclusion of art combined with the presence of an interpretation of nature, ‘Indigo’ feels calming, relatable and fresh.

Some moments fall flat – Lonely is cloying, paint-by-numbers EDM-pop that doesn’t fully land. Still, Indigo is a polished collection that spans both pop and rap with confidence.

RM gave us three completely different masterpieces - RM, mono and now Indigo, each representing his state of mind at a certain point in his life. What differentiates Indigo is that although it's a reflection of his '20s, it is really polished, and the features in the album give us all multiple colours but with one true essence - RM's genuine and profound lyrical genius. From the beginning with Yun, which I had to go research the artist’s biography, to No. 2 which closes a set of emotions, rawness, honesty & fragility well delivered by Namjoon. It really blew my mind away. Each track has a light of its own, all of them are timeless & effortlessly beautiful. Truly recommend it to anyone that consider themselves having a beautiful soul, it’s a masterpiece & it‘s truly a blessing to your life. Namjoon is a poet, but even if don’t care about lyrics, the beats stand on its own as well. I love this album so much, I could write an essay for each song, but no one is going to read it, so I do recommend it to give a listen & come up with your own conclusions. I’m sure we’re going to agree, it’s ART. Expand
