Distinct from the previous album, Infest the Rats' Nest gives more of a heavy metal and still flabbergasting as ever. Even with nonsensical planetary bulls**t, King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard has delivered in cold blood. Undeniably they can live up the nonexistent expectation of what heavy metal album could be.

I absolutely loved this album to pieces. It's politically charged, environmentally conscious, and a slam front to back.

Definitely the best metal album this year. All the tracks go super hard, heavy riffs with signature psychedelic touch from the band. The whole album even tells a cohesive story one track after another about the Earth and enviroment

The fellas go from frolicking and boogying about birds to a chugging and churning trash metal extravaganza that belongs in the upper tier of their discography. A brilliant detour for the band

Not usually a fan of this kind of music but **** me this thing goes HARD. I'd give it an 11 if I could.

Never listened to anything by King Gizzard before, also didn't listen to any of the singles for this album. This album **** goes hard though and I can tell you wholeheartedly that the mediocre reviewers are talking out their ass. It's a blast throughout and sounds bloody phenomenal, great job.

also, the videogame is not bad either.

Their best since Nonagon. How they do it? No idea. One of the best thrash metal albums I've ever heard easily.

Actually really fun thrash metal. And still sounds like king gizzard too. Great story line and lyrics as well.

For both voyages, the journey does not end well, but sets up beautifully to what could be a potential sequel, the invasion of the rich on mars. This story is backed by thunderous drums, screaming riffs and some fantastic vocals. A must listen to any rock fan. Expand

While the album may be directly compared to 2017’s Murder of the Universe, it’s arguably the most straightforward material they’ve written in some time. And while it feels like a minor misstep in comparison to much of their catalog, it finds the band crafting forceful and ferocious, mosh pit-friendly rippers that are politically and socially relevant.

By no means is Infest the Rats’ Nest the best ‘heavy’ album of the year, that honor is shared by Lingua Ignota and Baroness. But it’s not crazy to suggest that Infest the Rats’ Nest is one of the most valiant efforts of 2019, one that has only furthered the wondrous mystery of Melbourne’s beloved band.

Things do pick up with messy, closing tracks ‘Self-Immolate’ and ‘Hell’, but these are proficient rather than remarkable moments. Ultimately, it’s not enough to prevent ‘Infest The Rats’ Nest’ from feeling like a case of “look what we can do!” rather than a record fully realised.
