This is Dillinger's best album, in my opinion, but any way you slice it, it's a great record. Ire Works is such a great album, the two singles off the album, Milk Lizard and Black Bubblegum may put the wrong impression on what the rest of the album is like, but who would've known that Mathcore could sound so great! One you must listen to befire you die.

Simply an amazing album. Greg's vocals sounds at the top of their performance, and the band all come together and make a unique sound i've never heard before.
Favorite tracks: Milk Lizard, Black Bubblegum, Sick on Sunday, Nong Eye Gong

Unless you're a DEP fan, you've never listened to a cd like this before. It's tough, not because of how heavy it gets, but because of how often they change style throughout the album. Speed metal, noise rock, death metal, sometimes just hard rock, electronic rock. It can be frustrating if you're not expecting it (they're called a hardcore band for a reason). But if you have the right taste for it, this is easily one of the best albums of the year. It's an intense ride where you can't skip a single song and you're left exausted by the end. It's a lot of fun, for such a dark album. May not be the best place to start if you're looking to get in to metal (that would be Mastodon), but if you're even a little in to the genre, you can't leave this out of your library. Expand

This is easily my favorite album of 2007. It showcases TDEP's genius and range, and sets a new bar for extreme hardcore musicians.

It's just great, no one sounds that way, and it is not easy at all to make good songs with that level of math progression.

Uneven. For me, the total duration of the good songs is like 20 minutes. A long wait in between albums for such a short reward. I still consider myself a fan, and will be looking forward to there next album.

Fantastic new album from DEP, which manages to create their more aggressive, melodic and experimental album! You have to check it out! Don't listen to old, stubborn, closed-minded fan who despised it.

Admittedly this is my first insight into the band, and after two tracks I was a little worried - but sometimes the toughest nuts are the tastiest, and this album was well worth the perseverance.

Older fans probably won't like this one so much, but you know what? They can play old DEP while we all move on, including Dillinger themselves. This is a perfect fusion of old DEP mixed with some intriguing new stabs at melody. I dig.

As brilliant as the music is, the technical craziness makes it something that is only something that can be heard, not so much felt.

A near prefect album. A definitive improvement on Miss Machine... and that's saying a lot. I think they're just the most talented guys in metal right now.

Not bad. Good metal, good math, good ambience, good fun. They seem to have regressed musically a bit, but that's all Black Bubblegum's fault. Diverse if anything, and definitely not for hoods-up, know-nothing scenster morons who don't even understand how to change time signatures.

Dillinger's best work - a short and loud burst of pure, unrelenting energy. From "Fix Your Face", a song that kicks the album into high gear from the first note, to "Mouth of Ghosts", a avant-garde metal classic with one of the strongest buildups I've ever heard, Ire Works is essential for fans of the experimental.

TDEP are the beating heart of mathcore. This album sums up all the features of the genre. I still prefer Miss Machine, but this one contains one of my favourite TDEP song part: the crazy piano solo in Milk Lizard.

  1. It can be inaccessible and terrifying all at once, but in a genre overly saturated with formulaic groups, Ire Works is a true standout.

The Dillinger Escape Plan are far from dead and te sound they pioneered is only getting stronger. [Dec 2007, p.171]
  3. It’s a frighteningly powerful album that will be adored by open-minded newcomers and "Miss Machine" converts alike.
