Ultimately, this set succeeds because of how natural and effortless it feels. Like Petty’s writing, these songs seem to emerge fully formed. Tasjan appears at home in this sonic environment.

The tributes come across as affectionate rather than rote. That's due in large part to a distinctive, emphatic voice and lyrics concerned with their own troubles and colorful characters.

Tasjan has a pop at contemporary politics on the crooning "The Truth Is So Hard To Believe," but is stronger when he tackles domestic concerns. [Oct 2018, p.34]

As background music, this is a well-produced rock album where each song has its own feel and often has solid guitar riffs. Sometimes there are even big sing-along choruses. It's only upon close listening that Tasjan's lyrics become an issue.
