Nas saved the best for last, if this is the trilogy’s end. KDIII is the exclamation point at the end of his career’s most consistently dope stretch. It pays tribute to everything that came before it while whetting the appetite for what’s next.

With ‘King’s Disease III’, the New York rapper has put the seal on a strong album trilogy that proves that, three decades in, he’s still a force to be reckoned with.

Nas sounds like he’s regained his confidence as the king once more. He sounds like the king. He’s in that “Ether” mindset once more – not necessarily as vicious, but simply sounding like he’s willing to name names and it feels like he’s genuinely having fun with his writing.

A fantastically consistent, perpetually illuminating full-length, it shows Nas to retain a hunger, and sheer fire that so many of his peers have lost. Recalling former glories while remaining fixed on the future, ‘The King’s Disease III’ underlines the rapper’s current creative streak.

Throughout the album Nas sounds engaged, and his choices are unbeholden to the whims of the market. [Jan 2023, p.78]

Nas is not a perfect rapper in 2022 but the chemistry on King’s Disease III works well enough to paper over the shortcomings, leaving a focused, well-executed release.

By adhering to a creative formula typically associated with many foundational Golden Era classics, King’s Disease III often feels like a spartan exercise in pure technical ability. ... We get 100% pure, raw, unfiltered Nas spitting over a variety of velvety soul samples and invigorating instrumentation, which is, more often than not, a pretty good thing.

Top 3 Nas (tied with TLTs) The 17 song tracklist, (W/ no features) feels fresh due to Nas's pin point rhymes and storytelling, mixed with Hitboys production. An aging Nas flows beautifully over the beats, disbursing wisdom and experience, the perfect conclusion to one of the best runs in recent hip hop. This album and their accomplishments are deserving of nothing else, but a 10/10 Expand

KD3 doesn't reach the heights of his previous works, with most songs ranging from good to great, but it is perhaps its consistency that may make it a fan-favorite. If you are a die-hard Nas fan, I can easily see why you may rate it a 10, it's a wonderful collection of music, over everything else. Expand

This is just bang average. Normal project, nothing more. This album isn't better than MMLP or TPAB, open you fckn eyes. Every Kendrick record is better than this and that's why this shouldn't be rated higher than every Kendrick album. This is a good 6/10 but i'mma give it a 0 because I can't see this album topping with other rap masterpieces when it's just a good record with some decent songs. Expand
