Very enjoyable album!! One of the first in a while that I could listen from start to finish. My favorite songs on the album are Barbarian, Open Fire, Roaring Waters and Mudslide.

It's a great album rife with the thing we rockers are missing the most: hard, heavy sound. Mudslide and other songs feel fresh without leaving behind The Darkness' trademark 80's Glam Rock sounding. I think the only downside is that, though they came sorta close, they still didn't manage to pull off the same heavy weight the first album did.

This album will never be as popular as Permission to land but it's still a great album. This album is the darkness really sticking to what they love rather than bowing down to the pressure of producing something that will chart. Some brilliant guitar work on this album, some of the riffs are infectious and as always some nice solos that are not overkill but really add to the songs. Fantastic return to form. Open Fire, Barbarian, Last Of Our Kind are supreme. Rest of the album are all really good as well with Sarah O' Sarah, Mudslide, Hammer & Tongs and Roaring Waters are also worth a listen.

This is their darkest record yet, but it's saved from drudgery by a heavier sound delivered with furious energy.

Their fourth, Last Of Our Kind, includes some formulaic hard rock, Cheap Trick and Starship apery and flat-out misses. But it has its moments, to be sure.

There's nothing here to match their gonzo 2003 hit I Believe In A Thing Called Love.... But there's still laugh-out silliness. [Jul 2015, p.92]
