Upgrading previous remasterings, Page's personal touch brings out even more detail.... Each album's companion disc supplies both pleasure and an education. [Jul 2014, p.120]

Little more needs to be emphasized about the lasting importance of these prototypes other than this third reissue tweaks the sound with Page’s new remastering revealing nuances in the playing and arrangements that further enhance their already substantial historical cachet.

III was a masterful union of ballads and bruising, and a giant step in the songwriting ascent toward, later, "No Quarter" and "Kashmir."

Led Zeppelin III is where the band's dynamic and musical range really comes together and, for this writer at least, the most satisfying of the three.

While there is still a handful of metallic rockers, III is built on a folky, acoustic foundation that gives the music extra depth.... Of the first three reissues, Led Zeppelin III contains the highest quotient of unheard tunes: precisely two, although one of these doesn't quite feel new.

III is, indirectly, Led Zeppelin’s own version of Pink Floyd's Meddle--the folky, pretty early record that was never too popular and hence a favorite of indie types skeptical of such a massive mainstream band.... III has easily the best bonus material too.

While not the towering achievement of its brothers in numerology, Led Zeppelin III remains one of the great albums in rock and roll history, significant for its role in establishing the legend of Led Zeppelin that would become fact with Led Zeppelin IV.

From a purely sonic standpoint, these new versions are impossible to disregard.... The bonus material on Led Zeppelin II and III is more revelatory, showcasing the band’s creative process through assorted alternate takes and rough mixes.

Page's notion of what might catch the ear was eccentric, but generally infallible. Duly, these remasters aren't asking you to extend your idea of the Zeppelin canon, but retract it--to realise why the albums have the power and mystery they do. [Jul 2014, p.86]

The second CD of Led Zeppelin III expands on its mothership's psychograss exhilaration.

Beautiful and epic songs are delivered here, even more because Celtic, folk and blues influences. About the LZ III full album is marvelous. About reissue, the cover art remains LP sleeve replica and it's quite cool, but the extra CD, being a complete waste-of-money, has one or another difference in music names and musically, like the amazing guitar solo in an outtake of "Since I've been loving you", that is also great, but not enough to being released in album. But in a general ways, is the exactly same album twice. It's very very worthwhile buying for listening this marvelous album, but it's a pit having nothing new and at least too interesting for a extra disc. Regrettable the material of a band so important, what has so much history and extra material being treated this way. [11/10 for the album, 5/10 for the extra material] Full Review »
