  • Summary: One of six (!) new albums recently recorded by the Songs: Ohia and Magnolia Electric Co. frontman, the mostly-acoustic 'Let Me Go' is a vinyl-only release (that conveniently comes with a full CD version of the album).
Score distribution:
  1. Positive: 4 out of 6
  2. Negative: 0 out of 6
  1. It offers in personality and atmosphere what it lacks in originality.
  2. For fans missing the pause-in-the-thunderstorm pregnant solitude of Songs:Ohia, Let Me Go will get you that fix you've been craving, a teasingly short half-hour reminder of his old persona.
  3. There are, of course, a few missteps.... More often, though, the sparse arrangements highlight a resurgent songwriting force.
  4. Essentially one long postcard from the very edge of loneliness and sorrow.
  5. The whole album is relentlessly gloomy, comparable to the general glumness of a Xiu Xiu record but without the fun of a WTF factor.
  6. Uncut
