More than the sum of its parts, Liberman gets more compelling the more you listen.

With its ghostly music box pianos, electronic watercolors, staccato strings, and elliptical melodies, the album feels simultaneously elusive and introspective.

Records as strong as Liberman deserve as large of an audience as the world can muster in these strange, dystopian times of ours.

Fueled by exploration and musical experimentation, Carlton’s reinvention finds her a long way from “A Thousand Miles”--and in a better place, artistically.

Liberman is excellent on its own. Carlton's voice is the key attraction on songs that register between low-key pop, rock, and folk.

Liberman may be more structured than her early hits, but it’s still got hooks worth singing with friends, even if the piano steps off the main stage.

For all its prettiness, Liberman tends to fade into the background. Even Carlton's wistful vocals often disappear into the mix.

Vanessa's best album to date. Liberman creates an atmospheric space in which her voice resonates in a soothing and beautiful way. Main tracksVanessa's best album to date. Liberman creates an atmospheric space in which her voice resonates in a soothing and beautiful way. Main tracks in the album would be Willows, Take It Easy and Operator. The main hit in the album would be Blue Pool, since it has an almost perfect instrumentation and metaphoric lyrics that make it the best track on the album. The instrumentation of the whole album is well produced and the lyrics were carefully chosen in order to make this a full body of work. Sincerely, Vanessa's quality really went skyrocket on this album. Expand

Escape into a dream with the pianist, songwriter Vanessa Carlton! Liberman is an excellent mix of harmonic instrumentations, elegant vocalsEscape into a dream with the pianist, songwriter Vanessa Carlton! Liberman is an excellent mix of harmonic instrumentations, elegant vocals and metaphorical languages. The sound is refreshingly weird, dreamy and colorful: the fullness of sound, the echoing voice, the inspiring writing...they are some of the elements of Liberman.
We are a thousand miles away from her debut and so many things have changed. Liberman proves it. Vanessa shows courage and authenticity in making music that she really likes. Vanessa Carlton has not lost any of these skills, and instead learned how to hone them! Main tracks in the album: Take It Easy, Willows, House of Seven Swords and Unlock The Lock.

I have been a Vanessa Carlton fan since the very beginning when I was 14. It has been a pleasure to watch her evolve as an artist. This albumI have been a Vanessa Carlton fan since the very beginning when I was 14. It has been a pleasure to watch her evolve as an artist. This album is without reservation her best work. It is one of the albums in which I turn when I need to relax. The lyrics are amazing, the instrumentals are amazing, and her singing is amazing, too.

To me, this album is about unlocking the door to euphoria. Every track is phenomenal, but highlights for me include "River" (there's always the river connecting the past, the present, and the future and we are all navigating the waters, which lead us to our destination(s)), "Nothing Where Something Used To Be" (the loss of something important to you and the emotions linked to that), "Willows" (the importance of finding love, the importance of memory and it keeping us strong when our bones and body break down, etc.), and "Take It Easy" (the importance of taking it easy when everything else is falling to pieces and the value of slowing down in a chaotic world).

The weakest track is "Operator" only because it disrupts the overall sound of the album.
