In London Ko, Diawara uses a broader sonic palette than her earlier music and generally dials up the amplitude. While the music aims to move your body, its Bambara lyrics are also meant to move your spirit.

Something notable about Albarn's tracks is how hard they are to pick out from the others. [Jul 2023, p.83]

It’s a sprawling, chequered affair, with six of its 14 tracks co-written with Albarn (she on guitar, he on synths), while the rest co-opt a stellar cast of collaborators. There’s much to admire.

"London Ko" is a strong album to continue the career of a powerful singer with a lot of soul and joy in her cosmovision. And, of course, with"London Ko" is a strong album to continue the career of a powerful singer with a lot of soul and joy in her cosmovision. And, of course, with Damon Alban on her side, this is quite a joyride through a tropical side of what Fatoumata Diawara can do with her instruments and her voice. I'm just excited to see what is coming for this great artist, specially if this is just the beginning of something fun, colorful and full of life and fresh jazz. Expand
