    "Long Enough to Leave" sounds like an album straight out of the Sarah Records catalog. The Mantles' sound is similar to the common sound of early twee pop jangle pop acts from the late 80's laced upon a gritty indie-pop foundation.

    Twee-pop seems to be at the peak of its comeback as many jangle-pop bands are entering the scene. The Mantles ability to modernize a classic sound makes

    Even though the Mantles rock rather gently, the songs on Long Enough to Leave still reach out, grab you, and leave a mark.

    Equal parts Nuggets era-psych as it is The Cure and The Smiths, it is certainly an interesting avenue of songwriting they’ve chosen to explore. As with most exploration, however, there are missteps and wrong directions.

    Long Enough To Leave might not blaze much of a unique trail, wearing its love of the past proudly on its sleeve. That said, it still delivers its share of gems culled from other well-traveled musical paths.
