M3LL155X, whatever the hell it is, is perfect. Rarely have five songs sounded so cohesive, or made such a dramatic statement.
  2. 100
Notionally a five-track EP, M3LL155X is in its fullest realisation an art film/performance (co-directed and co-choreographed by her), freely available on YouTube.... Musically, it’s a more focused, coherent application of the same kinds of sounds and vocals used on LP1.

The vocals still send chills down the spine and everything becomes more grand and obtuse with every song. FKA twigs is striking, stunning weird and if her debut album assured that, this follow-up only strengthened her case.

On M3LL155X, she does seem to be growing stronger, testing the boundaries between light and unfathomable darkness, the breathtaking and the nauseating.

Here twigs sounds even more poised and self-assured.

The music is spacious, paranoid and sultry; the lyrics are suggestive and knotted.

The challenge of teasing audience expectations and controlling an artistic persona would seem far greater. With this EP, twigs pulls it off expertly, fracturing and blurring her musical self.

The song "In Time" featured on this EP is probably one of twigs' more commercial and relatable songs and is one of the highlights of the album. Overall the album is still experimental, but shows twigs' growth as an artist in an ode to female power. Expand

Well, FKA twigs is slaying again as she always do. This EP is such a masterpiece i'm in love with all the songs and, particularly, with GlassWell, FKA twigs is slaying again as she always do. This EP is such a masterpiece i'm in love with all the songs and, particularly, with Glass & Patron, i don't care if this EP has "just" 5 songs, still amazing and with a incredible sonority which just FKA twigs know how do. One of the best EP's that has come so far this year, and I'm not a twig's fan. But she is soooooo amazing.
    I love the visuals too.

Definitely leaves you wanting more from FKA Twigs but also leaves you very happy with a lot to think about to do with the EP's messages about motherhood and the female body. It also helps that the songs sound great and I'm amazed by In Time I think it's the first time I've seen auto tuning used well. You can tell she works hard to perfect her work, especially since she created a whole short film to go with the EP (except track 5). I dread to think about how much work it took to make this project.

I bask in the brilliance of FKA Twigs. Her wonderful combination of hip-hop and electronica is simply ART. Do you see the cover ART? That is ART. She is an ARTist. Do you see that she is too ARTistic to even spell "Melissa"? That is ART.

Has anyone ever noticed how anyone reviewing anything by FKA Twigs talks about how said album is "art" and then reiterate about how its "art" and it's artistic merits.. We should be able to listen and judge for ourselves rather than having how artistic it is hammered in our heads several times. Y'all should write for Pitchfork! Lol

For real though, M3LL155273627187236726182X (3artsy5me) is just simply more of the same from one of the most overrated pop singers out at the moment. She tries so hard to be seductive and artsy, but she always comes off as a try-hard. There isn't much here that you haven't already heard in LP1 (another overrated album of hers). Uses some autotune here and there as well. I don't understand the hype behind this singer, to be honest.
