Body Count's Manslaughter is without a doubt the best album of the year. Body Count successfully mashes Thrash Metal with Hardcore Punk as well as a little hip hop. Ice T may be 56 years old but he is more energetic than most people half his age. There are just too many manufactured pop acts these days. If you are looking for aggressive, in your face, carnivorous, heavy, high energy music, then you really need to listen to this album. Expand

A combination of rap themes and heavy metal sound all led by rapper Ice-T. Having no previous experience with the band I was a little worried that it would end up being more rap and hip-hop then real metal. Thankfully I was mistaken. This isn't for the weak-hearted or easily offended. But Body Count are definitely raucous fun. [28 Jun 2014, p.53]

There’s nothing as incendiary here as that year’s "Cop Killer," but Manslaughter does feature the band’s smartest musical leap in decades: evolving from its original sloppy mix of thrash and punk to lean, contemporary extreme metal.
