I loved it from the first track, A western to the end. This album is energetic and I didn't expect this level of artistry from a very young artist . I really really love it. ✨

The songs are anthemic, surprisingly upbeat calls to arms which suggest that Templeman is one to watch.

Brought up on a steady diet of singles, Templeman has some trouble stringing together a substantive 14-track set and a number of the cuts simply coast along on groove and tone without much else to recommend them. Minus the filler and occasional bouts of clumsy wordplay, Mellow Moon does little to damage the young singer/songwriter's reputation and adds a clutch of well-made tracks to his growing canon.

There are nice sonic touches here and there: the off-key slide guitar that opens Folding Mountains; the filtered house squelch of Best Feeling. So on its own terms, Mellow Moon succeeds. Even so, you wonder if it might not reflect a young artist pulling his punches.
