[“Break Up Every Night” is] an actual dance cut. The other cuts are basically ballads with beats--modernized Moby without the soul-searching or gospel samples.

Uunfortunately, the sound they've settled on is parked firmly in the middle of the road.

It is an anodyne pop record for a post-EDM world, one where trap and trop-house mix with pale imitations of the Migos flow and Coldplay’s cornball sentimentality.

This is Trump-pop: shallow, always betraying its influences, with a third-grade vocabulary and ambition that runs no further than emptying the nearest wallet.

Riddled with resentment and lyrics that land with a self-serious thud, Memories is a stunningly drab record. For the most part songs plod along at a strenuously mid-tempo pace, and are mostly lacking in any sonic detail that would reward closer listening.

Mr. Taggart is a capable but unexciting singer. And he has shockingly few lyrical ideas, less of a concern for performers more adept with melody. ... Two back-to-back songs, the impressive “Honest” and “Wake Up Alone,” parse the weight that fame exacts on emotional relationships--they’re among the most credible on the album.

Whether the album’s title is a plea or a warning does not matter, as the effect is the same: The Chainsmokers have one song, and if you don’t want to hear 12 versions of it, please do not un-click the latch holding this box closed.

album of the year 2017. loved every song on it to the point where i can't pick a favourite because they are all so flawless and i get thealbum of the year 2017. loved every song on it to the point where i can't pick a favourite because they are all so flawless and i get the lyrics on most of the songs aren't too deep ( even though its obvious that they're trying which most edm acts don't ) but in my opinion every song here is an extremely fun listen. i really don't see why everybodys hating on the chainsmokers the main complaint i hear is all their songs sound the same but sorry i just don't hear every song sounds different enough to me to be distinct. i'll be definitely coming back to this all year great album Expand

It is lifeless, bland and very hard to listen. It felt more noise than music. The songs felt the same, you didn't even know that it is another song. "Something just like this" is the only good song the rest are just cringey and a try hard especially "Break Up every Night" which is just the worst song in the album. cheesy is a kind word to describe this, cringy is the best word to describe the songs, Did I say try hard? yes it tries to be deep but the lyrics are just laughable so it ended up,again, cringy.Break up every night is the number one example of that,it is the crappiest noise I have ever heard,so far.

I gave a 3/10 due to Coldplay's Something Just Like This which is the only good song,it is supposed to be 0/10.

Made for the lowest common denominator and mindless background music at parties. It borders on offensive blandness, and the lead singers "vocals" are on 6 tracks too many. Expand

I will not take more than 10 seconds to criticize something that only took me 1 minute to listen.
All, absolutely ALL songs have exactly the same repetitive and monotonous rhythm. All I heard was a version after version of "Close" and "Roses". Why do all of your songs sound exactly the same?
To call this an album "Dance" is a blasphemy and an insult, nor does David Guetta make music so bad.
And do not get me started on the horrible "Break Up Every Night"

The album is pretty bad tho, bad singing, uninspired/untruthful/just terrible writing. The production is so remarkably cheap and plastic I can't believe this is produced by 2 edm guys. It is impressive how consistently not good this album is, I thought they might have a few decent peaks like DLMD or Roses. Expand
