Memories Don't Die (stylized in all caps) feels like everything his debut should have been. Slicing off the fat of a self-important back story, Lanez lets the music speak for itself. When he does chat, it feels pointed.

Tory Lanez manages to inject Memories Don't Die with a few quality tracks, but overall it misses the mark on classic appeal.

Nearly everything he raps on Memories Don’t Die is something you’ve heard before, performed more ably elsewhere, and the few lines that aren’t are unbelievably simple-minded or straight-up witless.

He's certainly less distinctive as a rapper than he is as a singer--both lyrically and vocally--original only for the level of his combativeness and the number of times he references his luxury coupe and wrist wear.

    Astonishingly hackneyed, aggressively chameleonic LP.
