At a tight nine tracks, any fat that needs trimming from Motorheart is easily digested. This one runs smooth.

Every track on the record sticks pretty close to the classic rock formula. But the formula is used incredibly well here. Melody is king. Hooklines are everywhere. The lyrics are smart and funny. There is nothing you can’t love.

The album fades a little towards the end, but it's exactly the daft-as-a-brush cheer-up we all need right now. [Dec 2021, p.72]

On Motorheart The Darkness’s timekeeping is impeccable and with songs about shagging droids their virility proven beyond doubt. As for staying on the right side of that fine line, give the boys credit; two outta three ain’t bad.

Even when the bagpipes show up on "Welcome Tae Glasgae," Motorheart is all riffs and falsetto screams designed to forget reality and dream of crowds packed with headbanging, beer-soaked hedonists singing along to the same songs.

Starting of the 2020's with another fantastic album. Possibly their best yet. It's love Jim has become a cult classic for good reason. SpeedStarting of the 2020's with another fantastic album. Possibly their best yet. It's love Jim has become a cult classic for good reason. Speed Of The Nite Time is unique and a change but damn it works so well. the title track and Jussy's Girl are superb. Also worth a listen is Sticky Situations, Eastbound and Welcome Tae Glasgae Expand

A definite step-down from the gobsmacking "comeback"-ishness of the last album (Easter is Cancelled), but that was surely inevitable.

It's still better than the third and fourth albums of the band, and maybe a tad better than the fifth (when Queen drummer Roger Taylor's son, Rufus Tiger Taylor, took over on the skins). Seems like The Darkness are back to stay, and I for one have absolutely no complaints about that! It definitely "rocks", and like the last album, goes places the band have never been before (waters both "heavier" AND "poppier" than previous efforts)!

    Nice one, lads.
