Appropriately named, Movement feels like a progression and challenge from one of the year's most exciting new voices, producers, and composers.

Herndon really puts herself through the digital ringer on Movement, and entrusts her voice to the machine. In doing so, she’s achieved a beautiful and harrowing symbiosis worth listening to again and again.

    [A] stunningly well-designed and authoritative record. [Jan 2013, p.77]

Futuristic and still visceral, even sexual, Movement's strength gleans itself from the subtleties.

Movement is one of those lovely surprises that makes you think, "Of course that's how music should sound right now".

The female overcoming time and space in the way that Herndon does with Movement is so frustrating and frightening.

Though academic in its tone, and impenetrable at points due to it's uncompromising focus on experimentation, Movement looks inward, probing the possibility of humanity even through an album centered on electronic instrumentation

Sometimes the album feels more like a document of studio experiments than a collection of fully realised, narrative-driven compositions, but they remain remarkably effective at imposing similarly conflicting emotions on the listener as on Herndon's avatar.[Dec 2012, p.65]

Ultimately, the restless movement here doesn't help the "classical" tracks connect to a non-specialized audience, but it does make for an inventive dialogue between the club and the ivory tower.

Movement, then, is more a proof of concept than a fully fleshed-out thought, though Herndon brings enough passion to her sound to suggest one is coming.

Nobody's denying Herndon's ambition and technical chops, but the goals of this album--however successfully they might be achieved--are often unappealing; the sonic outcomes, regrettably, a little dull.
