Never Hungover Again isn’t a complete overhaul of the band’s sound, but with all the gentle twists on those charms, it ends up serving as a re-introduction.
  2. The band has continued to expand and refine their ADD-riddle pop-punk into something more substantial and LP3 chronicles the growth in songwriting while maintaining the spastic charm of the band's earlier releases.

This album comes off as the most definitive and most complete that Joyce Manor have to offer.

You couldn't accuse it of being a complicated listen. Thankfully, the truncated frustrations of Catalina Fight Song ensure Joyce Manor are still a challenging one. [26 Jul 2014, p.53]

Joyce Manor make 20 minutes feel way more epic than the running time might promise, and Never Hungover Again ends up as the kind of record that feels like an instant classic.

Joyce Manor are more than comfortable with their own sound now--they’re effortlessly confident with it, and Never Hungover Again is a stark reminder of just how much fun you can actually have without alcohol pumping through your veins.

When Joyce Manor cracks open its sound the results are satisfying despite (or maybe because of?) being delivered in bite-size form.

Another ostensibly strong album in Joyce Manor's catalog, and one that hopefully doesn't go unfairly overshadowed as well.

Never Hungover Again is fully-grown and moves at a steady pace, while remaining characteristic to Joyce Manor's roots.

Once you stop trying to label what should be a hook and focus on what is, the ingenuity of each song’s design and the ear-turning nature of every maneuver speaks to Never Hungover Again's inexhaustible quality, the kind of album you can play three times in a row without any part wearing out its welcome.

Even though it does occasionally dip into overly-saccharine territory--like in the largely plodding End of the Summer--it more often makes for a good match with the band's more heavily melodic--though still energetic--approach.
  12. 70
It’s not much more than the sum of its influences, but when its influences are this strong, it really doesn’t matter.

The album’s heavier points tend to slant alternately intriguing and confusing.

The songwriting on this album is some of the best you'll ever hear in punk music, but the instrumentals on here can get a bit repetitive.

It's short, yes (this is the second review of adhamhany's that has based much of its criticism on album length - in my opinion, it doesn't really matter). Every song is extremely catchy and exciting, and the longevity keeps it from becoming repetitive. Very emo, too, so look out. This is the most genuine pop punk album I've heard in years. Full Review »
