Charlie Puth tries to sell you his debut "album" that, when talking about things put together well, contains nothing but a few mediocre cadences and vocal takes.

We have to be frank and say that this album has more downfalls than hits. The melodies are not as attractive enough as the lyrics, and Charlie is stuck in the simple, reaching the boring. Songs like "We Don't Talk Anymore" and "See You Again" add a touch of quality, but they don't save the album as a whole.

Puth's vocal habilities and lyric composition should be recognized in all terms. Nine Track Mind is a project full of powerful balads that make us truly get to know the artist behind them, which is so important.

“I liked Nine Track Mind a lot more than I thought I would. There are actually some really good songs on this album, such as We Don’t Talk Anymore, Does It Feel and My Gospel, to name a few. Of course, as in Charlie Puth’s other album, Voicenotes, a lot of the songs sound the same. That being said, Nine Track Mind is not a terrible album, even if some people think that it is. Highlights: Dangerously, We Don’t Talk Anymore, My Gospel, Up All Night, Left Right Left, and Does It Feel.”

I re-reviewed Voicenotes because it was the first album I had reviewed, and it was a couple months before I started doing this more. Because Nine Track Mind was the only other Puth album (besides the hidden Ego), I decided to re-review this album as well. In fact, I was even more disappointed the second time around. This is true that there are definitely songs in Nine Track Mind that I enjoyed, but living with those great songs are Nothing But Trouble and Suffer (and Marvin Gaye, and Losing My Mind, and As You Are), which were horrid songs. Suffer was actually bad and I didn’t really like Marvin Gaye (the song, not the singer) because it felt like Puth made a song out of one that Gaye had already made. I’m fine if songs reference other songs, but they should not be based on one another; where’s the creativity in that? Anyway, there were quite a few songs that I liked more the second time around, but it sadly just wasn’t enough for me to call Nine Track Mind a good album. Highlights: One Call Away, Dangerously, We Don’t Talk Anymore, My Gospel, Up All Night, Left Right Left, The There’s You, and Does It Feel.

This album is actually good, you guys dislike him only because he writes about love, not about sex or explicit things. I am not really a fan, but this much hate to an album is unfair, so I'm boosting the ratings.

The album has great songs and Charlie with impeccable vocals. Although, there remains a vague space on his album that lacks the essence in each of his songs. His compositions are felt. Evolution better it all, he's a huge artist!

This isn't the best album Chalrie Puth can create but it still owns songs that reflects about love and some pure bits over the past years. 'Ego' was much better because it was more diverse.

Charlie has pushed the bar up on how generic and boring an album can be. This album has not one standout. There were a few ok songs but most of them were so bad that I wanted a refund on the album. It is so cheesy and frankly boring. You can tell he wanted to be like Ed or Taylor here but he could not achieve the emotion of love like they do.

Puth's singing ability seems to outstrip his songwriting on most of the tracks. In the albums better moments the traditional pop songs sound like an homage, but in it's worst, those same leanings feel forced and cheesy. Lookin' at you "Marvin Gaye". Still there are some strong singles in here. "We Don't Talk Anymore" alone makes this worth a listen.

What puts me off is that if this was sung by Ed Sheeran, Justin Timberlake, and possibly even the Chainsmokers, it wouldn't be a bad album. But it is. Puth has just shown that he's trying way too hard to be like Mariah Carey or Michael Jackson, and failing, singing about past relationships and being a "hero." [False ego.] As for his voice, it's so whimpery and whiny that it sounds like he's going through puberty again.
I enjoyed See You Again as much as anyone. But every other song by Puth just slowly turns him into the 16 year old Justin Bieber (The one we all hated). He lacks charisma, talent, and emotion, and his solace for all that is just fake.
It could be worse, though. Still, I hate this album.

If he can't make a better album than this one, he should just stick with being a producer instead of trying to make a career out of his non-qualifying sense of musical abilities.

Also, I really thought I was gonna like "One Call Away", but NO! It was boring, it was full of clichés and he still sounds like a homeless beggar. Charlie, if you're reading this, you better take these as words of motivation so you can make a better album. An album that has REAL quality! There's no denying that Puth has great vocal talent - even though it's not anything really spectacular - it still manages to stand out when heard on the radio. This album however, doesn't do his vocals any justice. Lazy songwriting, monotonous rhythms and overall boring production just leaves the listener wanting a little bit more.

The main problem with this album is that it's boring, there's no other way to describe it. Puth's vocals are good as always, but he never really seems to hit any high notes, it's just all very bland. 'One Call Away' is a decent opener to the album, but before I knew it I found myself listening to 'See You Again' (with Wiz Khalifa), ending the album off.

None of the tracks, except the opening and closing tracks, managed to grip me. This LP blends elements of standard pop, R&B and doo-wop, but doesn't seem to try and push any boundaries. It just ends up being another standard pop record, which is a shame because this project had lots of potential to be great.

To summarise why this record is flawed: The opening track is great, but all the other tracks sound like the opening track. There's just not enough variation here to keep things interesting, but there's no denying that Puth is capable of releasing a solid body of work.

As a debut album this comes off as a bit of a disappointment, but there's lots of room for him to grow as an artist.

My personal favourites from the LP: 'One Call Away' and 'See You Again'.

Bon album mais beaucoup trop linéaire.
On pouvait attendre davantage de Puth, malheureusement il propose la même chose pour toutes les pistes. Dommage.

Actually pretty good and chill, this album is good for a careless afternoon in your house. The duets (with Selena Gomez and Megan Trainor) are the outstanding tracks of the record.

Absolute dredge. This album just plods, and plods, and plods along. The most exciting segment is when Selena Gomez shows up for a sleepy cameo. This really could have used a shot in the arm and more than just two uptempo tracks. 'Left Right Left' might be some of the most pedestrian writing I've ever heard. The criticism has been unfair to this boy. romantic musical future! The album can be cheesy, but it is an album of compositions excelent and well produced. Charlie Puth stands out as a good composer, though still not be exelente. Talves the world needs a greater pinch of love to understand what Puth meant the Nine Track Mind.

This album is absolutely incredible. Charlie's voice is unique and full of passion. I love every single song on the album. He has obviously put a lot of time and effort into making it great. It doesn't surprise me that critics aren't in favor of nine track mind because it's not a traditional pop album, Definitely money well spent and I can't wait to see what Charlie does next.

Basic. A total waste of voice and talent, with an album full of mediocre feelings, trying too hard to be "romantic" but ends up being ridiculous. Full of balades that tried to be at least romantic, but end up giving tasteless feelings.

Wow, this is the first album I've seen in a while that's been in the red! Based on the reviews I was expecting this to be god awful, but it really isn't. I'm actually quite impressed by Charlie's voice and the fact that he's made such a cohesive album, but that being said, much of this is super bland and not really my style at all. He sort of falls into the same genre as Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, and Meghan Trainor with his sappy old-fashioned songs, and listening to it really makes you wonder how someone his age is really into this kind of music. To each their own I suppose. I'll pass on this one.

Ew... very basic, I hoped a lot more from this artist, total dissapointment. I guess at least he tried with that song See You Again, which if is his only good and recognized song, It is sad for a talented person to become a One Hit Wonder :(

Charlie Puth, the new young talent from New Jersey, was pretty much shoved down our throats by the radio during 2015. Every song on Nine Track Mind can be considered bland radio filler. Nothing really stands out enough to make the listener go "wow", and the album gets boring and predictable after the first two tracks. Not a strong debut at all, but this young artist has all the time to come through with the next era and consider this just a "seasonal buzz album". Personally speaking, it was a rather boring experience I wouldn't want to repeat.

A pretty average album. The only good song would be We Don't Talk Anymore featuring Selena Gomez. I believe if it was not for Selena on the track then i'd rate the album a 3. Charlie got lucky with See You Again. He's those type of artists who get lucky for a year like Rachel Platten (with Fight Song), Rober Thicke (with Blurred Lines) and Iggy Azalea (with Fancy and Black Widow)

Com dois featuring ótimos, Puth mostrou realmente seu talento de escolha e as músicas tem um toque leve, que te deixam calmo ao escutar. It doesn’t help that Nine Track Mind is all ballads except for three tracks, two of which are duets (Trainor, a sleepy Selena Gomez) that somehow still feel like ballads. Puth cannot fill this frame of sentimentality with any genuine sentiment.

There are flashes of something special on Suffer, and the surprisingly sultry Selena Gomez collaboration We Don’t Talk Anymore, but in general, Puth’s anonymity is infuriating.
