The rather aimless and derivative '90s drum'n'bass homage "Hocus Pocus" aside, No More Idols is a consistently impressive and intriguing listen that has the potential to be the drum'n'bass genre's defining studio album.

Stronger on revved-up dancehall than coffee-table soul, it's on the collaborations they really come into their own. [Feb 2011, p.125]

Overall this is an impressive album that could prove a game-changer.

It would be interesting to see Chase & Status explore this extra dimension further, but--for now--this is a thrilling case of cum on feel the noize.

Slightly laconic, slightly ironic, ["No Problem"] makes for a brilliant contrast with the production duo's galloping stutter-riff groove, heralding a run of crunching fuzz-guitar riffs that brings to mind the UK big-beat heyday of The Prodigy.

While brutally impressive, if it's subtlety you're seeking, look elsewhere. [Mar 2011, p.100]

It's alright and will shift units: boundaries will rest easy however.

Less easy to grasp is why, if Chase And Status can come up with music that's subtle, clever, original and commercial, they'd chose to spend half their time coming up with music that's only one of those things.

Their second album combines ballistic rave pop with tougher bass-laden sounds and is an effectively youthful update on the Prodigy's formula.

With a lack of tunes to come back for, maybe it would have become a better record if they weren't so focused on stardom and the charts.

Despite Cee Lo's vocal guidance (Brixton Briefcase), you almost black out from the terribleness before coming to and realising you're too good for this soulless nonsense.
