    It's simply beyond me while a lot of cave fans cherish this close-to-rubbish album of boring, theatrical and self-centred songs so far removed from the organic vitality and crackling inspiration of earlier cave masterpieces. But hey, his brand new side project, Grinderman, is a return to form. So buy that one instead!

    An 11 if I had the choice. Not for the ignorant or lighthearted, but it touches on the themes that Nick himself calls the only ones in the world: Death, Love, and God. Buy it and listen to it over and over again. And by the way, the myopic critics aside Nick Cave is to Neil Diamond what Deniro is to Kermit the Frog.

    Three days before I have my first performance on stage, Ibought this record and I invariably decided to play and sing 2 songs from this, No more... & Sweetheart Come. This record reminds me of Cohen. And that's good. It will never become apalling to me, 'cause it's just invigorating and depressing at the same tine! Thanks Nick!!!

    mellow morning wake up music, play it early and loud. it's not depressing, it's a happy sort of gloom :)

    My first Nick Cave album, and I like it a lot. Besides, I got it from my Baby, and "Sweetheart Come" sounds like it was written especially for us, sad though it may seem.

    I think that Nick Cave one of the few true artists in the modern rock music. Everything he does deserves attention and this album is no exception. I guess in ten years or more some of his records may be recognized as classic and this one can be a strong candidate for that.

    A little TOO personal. Gushingly so...but Cave's vocals get a 10/10- damn fine; among Cave's best work. Music is OK too; the Seeds are subtler than ever before- but flawless. Lyrics and themes though...are a little complex, and not in a good way. Sure, this album may be a masterpeice of sorts artistically, and yeah, for those willing to put the energy out to get in Cave's A little TOO personal. Gushingly so...but Cave's vocals get a 10/10- damn fine; among Cave's best work. Music is OK too; the Seeds are subtler than ever before- but flawless. Lyrics and themes though...are a little complex, and not in a good way. Sure, this album may be a masterpeice of sorts artistically, and yeah, for those willing to put the energy out to get in Cave's head it might be a thought provoking ride, but...when i listen to a Nick cave record, i want it to be for ME, to entertain ME, not have to listen to the incredibly introverted, excruciatingly personal cryptic messages. Give me murder ballads or boatman's call any freaking day- sings like Song of Joy, Black Hair, Far from me...they entertain. You see, that's the point. Still, this album has it's moments- like Sadly by her side and 15feet of pure what snow.… Collapse

    A major letdown from the genius of The Boatman's Call and setting lower standards for genuine stripped-down records, but, Cave never being one to disappoint, delivers it good when it's good.

    No More Shall We Part is a beautiful, elegant record, capably fulfilling the promise of The Boatman's Call, but it exacts a harrowing toll from the listener. This is not a record to which you can listen lightly; if used as background music it will gradually darken your mood, like poison seeping slowly into a well.
