Non-Secure Connection is more than just a strong & cohesive collection of well-written material. It also represents a continuation of Bruce’s keen ability to adapt to the ever-changing musical & societal landscapes that shape our world today.

Non-Secure Connection needs – and deserves – several encounters before its treasures can be fully revealed. When they are, a record to stand beside his best achievements in recent years is the result. Hornsby is a fascinating and absorbing character, and the longer his creative surge continues the better.

As ever, Hornsby’s wistful, elegant melodies are the main attraction.

Often as challenging as Justin Vernon's recent work. [Sep 2020, p.31]

It's a moody puzzle box of an album, one that pays dividends with close listening but one that's also fine as evocative background music.

It's kind of like a psychedelic Randy Newman. [Aug 2020, p.73]
