Q MagazineOct 23, 2018An expansive journey into a singular imagination. [Dec 2018, p.107]
-
UncutOct 18, 2018His homespun take on soft rock and '80s Continental pop balances languid dreaminess with a subtle virtuosity. [Dec 2018, p.27]

Oct 24, 2018Out of Touch, at its core, is an enjoyable pop album. Kalevi's voice and ever-so-slightly off-kilter electronic sensibilities are what make it distinctly his. He takes the easy and warps it into modern art, and while the sounds can get muddy, especially when it comes to his words, there's something to be said for shying away from the comfort of squeaky-clean sounds. Out of Touch allows for a more luscious aural dive.
-
Oct 10, 2018While Kalevi can often transport the listener though, there are also a few moments where the illusion is shattered.
-
MojoOct 10, 2018At times, its lumbering gait palls somewhat, but This World's rousing yacht rock twinkle proves that Kalevi has some aces hidden up his sleeve. [Nov 2018, p.91]
-
Oct 23, 2018Out of Touch is a harmless, conventional record that is awash in an understated charm that's a little too subtle to warrant repeated plays.
-
Oct 10, 2018The outright corniness of some of the tracks--the steel drums of “Night Chef”, the softened yacht-rock of “Conceptual Mediterranean (Part 1)”--test the listener’s patience. Ultimately the purposeful superficiality of Out of Touch renders it inessential.
