This album is Madeline’s garden, a flourishing melodic/electronic progression from Night Night’s straightforward indie-pop, and a shell-shattering statement of confidence to boot. Kenney has come into full bloom, and Perfect Shapes will forever capture that moment.

It’s cheeky, and should be gimmicky, but this is a record so sharply made in Kenney’s own non-conformist image, and she gets away with it. On this form, she’s destined for alt-pop greatness.

These songs are more impressionistic than anything Kenney has produced to date making for interesting and thoughtful music, and an accomplished second album.

Her ability to make music feel tactile is one of her greatest strengths, and Perfect Shapes is tangible from start to finish.

Perfect Shapes is a confident step forward. It all bodes well for whatever shapes come next.

On Perfect Shapes, Kenney builds a comforting space for her own reflection and growth. It reflects a welcome boost in confidence, Kenney at last stepping onto the pedestal of her own design.

For those who aren't put off by its favoring crafted texture and melody over mood or structure, it's also absorbing, offering layers to uncover with repeat listens. Trivia of note: Perfect Shapes is Wasner's first time producing music that isn't her own.

Some patience and repeated plays may be needed to digest all of the aesthetics offered on Perfect Shapes, but with amiable melodies in a variety of tempos and moods it is a likable record that is enjoyable to listen to but one that may or may not stand the test of time.
