You can file the seven bonus alternative mixes under "interesting" rather than "essential," but the sheer magnificence of the rest remains undiminished. [Apr 2015, p.108]

It’s an album that actually deserves a monolith of a box, and one whose title was supremely well chosen. Physical Graffiti is the sound of a group writing their identity, in huge block capitals of sound, across popular culture.

Like most of the Zeppelin reissues, the alternate versions reaffirm that Page made the right decisions the first time around, but these seven versions all make for worthy listening in their own right.

Physical Graffiti is Zeppelin's best album ultimately because it felt like a culmination.

Physical Graffiti, in its cocksure energies and determined reach, was Zeppelin's last, swaggering masterpiece.

Remastered by Page himself, this is the best digital version of Physical Graffiti available and the definitive way to hear the album if you don’t own a turntable.

The album proper finds an omnipotent Led Zep still within hailing distance of the top of their game.

Released 40 years to the day since its initial release, this deluxe edition confirms what critics have long said about this, yes, “summative” recording: this is an album that gives a lot, and then keeps on giving.

The album endures as a bequest to the bogglement of the ages. [Mar 2015, p.95]

No amount of reissue padding will ever tarnish the mesmerizing mess of Physical Graffiti. It’s funny--only now, 40 years later, has the true filler finally emerged.

I agree they have some incredible musicians, and Plant is a passable vocalist. So I decided to listen to this album, and really try to like it. I just can't. Sorry. I think they still may be the most overrated rock band ever. Full Review »

They got any bad album. In addition (at least until Physical Graffiti) has released just perfect albums being-to-end. More versatility in everything, the band incredibly can sounds good passing by any genre that they play. Soft-rock, indian music, folk, blues, heavy metal, hard rock, roots rock, country, pinches of black music, psychedelic, progressive. Yes, the boiler is marvelous big. Works very well and results in one of best music albums of all time. One more time, about extra disc, another deception and disdain with the fans. More of the same, except for one or another difference in mix for that songs that were released, beside different names in songs initial version, which unfortunately means anything.
[11/10 for the album, 4/10 for the extra disc]
