    Despite the house and dance beats and Marc Anthony features, Pitbull is still a rapper, and a decent one at that. He has definite personality on the mic, a trained and well-executed flow and delivery, and an ear for a good club banger.

    Formulaic it may be, but it is a formula Pitbull knows his way around – and though this aesthetic can't hope to match the boundless energy that the combination of his vocal with a Lil Jon production used to bring, there's enough of it here to satisfy once you turn your mind off.

    Pitbull's rapping machismo enhances his songs, but for better or worse there are times on Planet Pit where he seems caught up in the limelight instead of shining in it. This is likely to be his most successful album to date regardless.
