It's similar to Pitbull's newest album, Planet Pit, which blends everything but the kitchen sink in a frenetic jumble that's facile yet unadulterated fun.

This is a hip-hop-flavored club effort of Elephunk proportions and another high-water mark for the don of pop-rap's glitter dome.

If every album from here on sounds like Planet Pit the public will begin to forget just what made him so special in the first place, but right here, right now, it's Pitbull's world and we're just living partying in it.

Despite the house and dance beats and Marc Anthony features, Pitbull is still a rapper, and a decent one at that. He has definite personality on the mic, a trained and well-executed flow and delivery, and an ear for a good club banger.

Formulaic it may be, but it is a formula Pitbull knows his way around – and though this aesthetic can't hope to match the boundless energy that the combination of his vocal with a Lil Jon production used to bring, there's enough of it here to satisfy once you turn your mind off.

Mostly, though, the music on Planet Pit is of the Euro-house variety, grand and stupid and tough to deny. Its appeal is global, largely because it lacks specific reference points.

Pitbull's rapping machismo enhances his songs, but for better or worse there are times on Planet Pit where he seems caught up in the limelight instead of shining in it. This is likely to be his most successful album to date regardless.

'Plant Pit' is the pits indeed. It seems like they just took a bunch of singles and threw it in to make an album. No artistry whatsoever, but'Plant Pit' is the pits indeed. It seems like they just took a bunch of singles and threw it in to make an album. No artistry whatsoever, but hey, I guess you shouldn't expect that from an artist like Pitbull. It gets a 1 due because tracks like Shake Senora (featuring Sean Paul) & Castle Made of Sand (featuring Kelly Rowland) are enjoyable... Full Review »
