The desperation to be famous in the subsequent release of this album is absolutely shameless. Something really off about the whole thing.

Popular music at its best. She is the definition and the epitome of a talented pop star. The vocal cadence, production, the lyrics - everything is in sync and congenial to one another.

"Prioritise Pleasure" is certainly not a bad pop album, but I just can't understand the numerous 9/10 and 10/10 ratings.

Especially the first half of the record is weak and lacks almost everything that makes a good album. The second half comes with groovy beats and drums, which brings me to an overall score of 7 out of 10. My favorites: "I Do This All the Time" "Its Been a While"

P.S. "Prioritise Pleasure" by Self Esteem is the first album I reviewed on Metacritic.

This album is perfect ! A great self love anthem with great vocal performances, catchy productions and powerful lyrics; lol an album doesn't have to be very wierd or different from other albums and rebecca just proves it in this album. A good album, not so sure on some songs, but ones like Moody are great. Production mostly good. Overall pretty strong.

This is an amazing body of work. The lyrics in every single song are beautiful and the production is out of this world. Easily album of the year.

A breath of fresh air, a voice for all women, a frank storyteller carrying noise along with her. Truly an outstanding weaving of a variety of influences, blending them in a unique painting of what a modern young woman is. Believe the praise, and ignore the misogynists who can't handle a woman scoring over a 90 without being dead.

What a great album, too much experimental. There's something bold in Self Esteem's creative vision.

Pretentious pop for the critics that like Billie Eilish and other "experimental", no-actual-singer ish. Hard pass.

Absolutely genius - moments of Jessie Ware, Lily Allen, Kanye big gospel, I’m absolutely obsessed with this album. Fave is You Forever but love it all!

    SIMPLESMENTE SIM.

This is a truly fantastic record. I can only think that the negative reviewers are either a) devoid of musical intelligence, b) been living in a ditch for the past few years and therefore completely disconnected from modern life, c) never experienced emotional complexity told in simple honest terms, or possibly all of the above.
This should bag all the major album awards this year. Rebecca

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. HOT TAKE: The critics are bonkers. Prioritise Pleasure is miles away from an 80+ score, let alone a 93. This album took some of the worst parts of generic pop music and implemented them all with substandard execution. The vocals are iffy, the lyrics are shallow, and the production is absolutely horrendous at times. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This album is so **** good! It's powerful, it just grows, it is one of the best albums of the year so far. The production floating between being minimalist and then overwhelmed it's what enchanted me for good. Her vocals are kinda of raw and well placed, the lyric content doesn't fail at all, the backing vocals are empowering. Trust me, it's a espetacular masterpiece. Expand

A delicious mix of Pop and Dance very well done and executed. Self Esteem brings an exquisite and very well done job, saying everything without fear. One of the best!

Phenomenal storytelling from start to finish. She also transcends into new pop territory making it look so easy. One of the greatest albums of this decade and we only just got started. I highly recommend listening to this masterful songwriting masterpiece.

What rides at the top and takes your attention pretty much all the time is Taylor herself. Her words are honest and palpable, but also unflinchingly direct.

Across the album’s 13 tracks, she flits easily between pop’s peripherals and its core, dispensing emotional catharsis all the way.
