  • Summary: Probot is the all-star metal band founded by Nirvana/Foo Fighters drummer Dave Grohl and fronted by a variety of singers, including King Diamond, Max Cavalera (Sepultura), and Lemmy Kilmister (Motorhead).
Score distribution:
  1. Positive: 17 out of 21
  2. Negative: 1 out of 21
  1. There is a clear passion and enthusiasm in Grohl’s instrumentals and a potency and power in the performance of every singer.
  2. Not only has Grohl released a fantastic album, he has done a wonderful job giving several aging metal vocalists another fifteen minutes of fame.
  3. Not for the weak (or for Foo fans, really), this is some heavy hard-core stuff that's supernaturally superb.
  4. A full-blooded, affectionate and occasionally very funny album.
  5. It's a righteous and wholly legitimate throwback to old-school metal's power and fury.
  6. Musically, this is as solid a hard-rock offering as fans of Motorhead and obscure Swedish crunch fans could ask for. Lyrically, however, Probot is a different story.
  7. There is some entertainment value in Probot. The manufactured praise accompanying Grohl, supplied by a corps of pro fuglemen who lead and escort the illustrious on his vanity venture, is grand.

Grohl attacks this CD with menace. The guest vocalists sound happy (if that can be used accurately) and at home. Top notch stuff. Highly recommended.
