Six tracks are leftovers from the Brian Eno-produced "Vida" sessions, many of which make noticeable, if not exactly terrifying, departures from the band's swelling rockery.
A slight change of pace can be seen in this EP with a hip-hop icon cameo and some Eastern embellishments that may hint to new musical endeavors for Coldplay.
None of this is major but it is enjoyable, worthwhile for the devoted--and it's nice they can get it separately instead of plunking down cash yet again for a deluxe edition.
In truth, of the eight previously unreleased tracks, one is a not-massively-adventurous reshuffle (the Osaka Sun mix of ‘Lovers In Japan’), another a 48-second long incidental piano piece, another the version of ‘Lost!’ that features Jay-Z on autopilot (ie, still quite amazing) but is on the flip of the single.
Just as "Viva" did an admirable job of troubleshooting the band's lazy weaknesses while expanding their sound, Prospekt's March offers a truncated version of their svelte and marginally progressive new formula.
This EP collects recordings from the sessions for "Viva la Vida," Coldplay's most sonically tricked-out record, but the new songs feel too conservative after Viva's world-music-laden sprawl.

The EP starts off with 'Life in Technicolor ii' which adds vocals too the original 'Life in Technicolor' and this vocal adding was definitely a great idea. 'Postcards from Far Away' is a nice little piano interlude type song. 'Glass Of Water' is a very upbeat song that I loved, I honestly believe it belongs on the Viva La Vida Album and I don't know why it isn't, It's literally a song that made me air guitar! 'Rainy Day' was a unique song that I really liked. 'Prospekt's March / Poppyfields' was a nice beautiful song to calm the listener down after some great upbeat music. 'Lost+' Is a song that benefitted off of the Jay-Z feature. the original 'Lost!' was an alright song for me but 'Lost+' has a Jay-Z verse that made the song a little better. 'Lovers in Japan - Osaka Sun Mix' may not sound that different too the original, but, it's actually more upbeat and uptempo than the original, by just little tweaks. I don't think it's better than the original because it doesn't have the hidden track like before that I loved, but I still think this is better than the first half of the original 'Lovers in Japan'. But the songs on here as a whole provide a far stronger experience and beauty that only the 2nd half of VLV began to dive into. the title track is perhaps is one of the most emotional pieces they've ever made. the other main songs "rainy day"and "now my feet wont touch the ground" are the first truly "experimental" songs from an era of recording that Coldplay has claimed to be one. "Life in Technicolor II" a powerful opener that beats its instrumental conterpart on vlv and postcards form far away is also a good one. lovers in japan and jay-z-a-fied lost+ are forgettbale but the rest is fine... buy it…Expand

They each remind me of different points of Coldplay's career. Life in Technicolor ii is amazing and warrants the album's purchase (it reflects Viva La Vida's style. Rainy Day reminds me of some of the best of X&Y as well as Glass of water. Prospekts March reminds me of AROBTTH. While "Now My Feet Won't Touch the Ground" reflects parachutes. Great music.
