Not surprisingly, Kweli truly shines on the politically motivated tracks when he’s able to rap about things he’s passionate about.

He'll likely never reach the heights of albums such as Mos Def and Talib Kweli Are Black Star or Quality again, but Radio Silence proves that his voice is much needed and breaks through the noise.

Radio Silence is a jazzy, soulful call to action, a think-piece and a middle-finger to the trolls who claim he fell off; you can still find his name "in the middle of equality."

Kweli persists as one of the most inspired storytellers, wasting no syllables as he condenses and elucidates complex non-fiction.

Pick up any one or two of these tracks (save maybe for those above "The One I Love") and they'll sound great--energetic, smart, everything you want Talib Kweli to be. The whole album at once is a bit numbing, but still worth listening to.

Kweli’s flow can feel rushed and sticky, as though he can’t articulate his thoughts as neatly as he can conjure them up. But his fans are loyal. Radio Silence will comfortably shore up the base.

The solid Radio Silence album utilizes the usual formula for Talib Kweli but with feelings and topics unusual to some conservative circles. The solid Radio Silence album utilizes the usual formula for Talib Kweli but with feelings and topics unusual to some conservative circles.
