One of the best albums ever recorded. No exaggeration.

I love it, his music is so personal. He is such a talented artist, a treasure amidst the fake "pop" music of right now. Joseph Arthur is a genious!!

take a blender...throw in your first love affair, your angst of reaching adulthood, your reminiscence of your youth, triumphs and tragedies, a little bit of bob dylans influence, with a sense of humor....it would come out sounding somewhat like this album.......

I love this album. It's my first Joseph Arthur album and now I'm ordering the earlier ones. His lyrics just fit into everything in life.

  1. Redemption's Son achieves a sophisticated marriage of traditional songwriting craft and avant-garde production.
  2. The monochromatic melancholia eventually weighs the disc down, but even when Arthur's songs drag they do so with a grace and beauty that transcends the morose subject matter of his self-pitying lyrics.

In the current pop singer-songwriter renaissance, Arthur's art stands out as the most emotionally naked and musically ambitious. [3 Jan 2003, p.64]
