At the heart of Reputation lies a sequence of songs that chart the rise, fall and fallout of a fleeting relationship and offer a masterclass in pop songwriting along the way.

I’ll venture to call it her most focused, most cohesive album yet.

For all its flaws--it’s overlong, and sometimes seems too keen to be meta and self-referencing--it’s full of energy and often makes for an exhilarating listen. It may not quite measure up to the heights of 1989, but whether she’s Old Taylor or New Taylor, there’s enough here to demonstrate why she’s still one of pop’s brightest pop stars.

1989 fans will breathe a sigh of relief when "I Did Something Bad" kicks in, though, which starts off a string of shiny pop songs that not only feel like a more natural progression from the last album, but improve upon each listen in that sneaky way Swift songs tend to do. ... The moments on Reputation that Swift stans appreciate the most are likely the ones casual listeners will be quickest to dismiss.

It’s full of bulletproof hooks and sticky turns of phrase. But in committing to a more conventional form of superstardom, Swift has deemphasized the skill at the core of her genius.

Part rumination on engaging with the pop icon and part deep end even after eating the meal, Reputation keeps the ball in the air, argues for moving forward, even if it’s herky jerky.

With Reputation, Swift seemingly has the idea that bigger, wider, and louder is necessarily better, but the dopamine rush that modern pop music can so reliably produce never arrives.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. For me this is one of the best Taylor's albums because she reflects all the things she feel at the moment when the rumors and the lies came to light and her friends disappear and just the trusted friends stayed with her. She use the songs to represent the problems in her perspective and how the things where wrong making her look like the bad one in the story. And she repeat that she still believing that everyone it's good with each other and that it's not the reality. Expand

And that's saying something, because Lorde's sophomore album was very good as well. Taylor took everything people are saying about her and turned it into lyrical gold-as she always does. Buy it. Buy one for your grandma, grandpa, dog, cat, fish, sugar bowl. Literally, everything could use a little reputation in its life. :) Expand

After 1989 i thought it would be hard to top that but in my opinion she definitely has done that. The album doesnt have a single song which is below average. It is perfectly balanced. I cant choose a favourite! There are too many. I Did Something Bad, Dont Blame Me, Delicate, Getaway Car and End Game. Every song on the record is a potential single Expand

Swift is respectfully credited writer and producer on this album, but to no degree of a focussed outcome. Songs lack appeal and the polish that is perceived seem very blindly committed. No advancements in sonics and boring aesthetic, very inspired by the target focus of the lead single. A very weird and bad album. Expand
