Some songs have a catchy beat, but the lyrics are garbage and the new taylor is very fake and narcissistic. I would rank this ahead of Red but behind every other album of hers.

Reputation plays with differents sounds in each song. Swift give us an album full of stories about her personal life and somehow, that's beautiful. This album prove us why she is one of the most influential artist and songwriters in the world, and maybe, of all the times.
Best songs: ...Are You Ready For It?, Getaway Car, This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things and New Year's Eve.

I was more than pleasantly surprised by how sharp and pointed some of the lyrics were and with Swift's improvement with the song times, with all of them clocking at or under the four-minute mark. The pre-releases for the record do not justify the overall work, and I strongly commend the lyricism and production, which was narrowed to a small group of producers, a trend becoming more and more popular in the current pop music landscape, where albums like 'Melodrama' (Lorde) are regarded in a fairer light than the airy, multi-producer, 'evil' pop. A total self-centered garbage fire. The lowest point in the Swift's career. As a mediocre trap/pop record, it lacks of soul. There's nothing much to say about Reputation.

This album sounds like a generic mess from the beginning to the end. 'reputation' has no personality and it could be recorded by any basic pop singer from the mainstream. Cloying!

She is a narcissist, arrogant, fake person. Her songs are repetitive and insincere I wonder how much she is paying to be successful. Only a few songs are ok and this album is really overrated.

Unfortunately Taylor couldn't keep up the freshness of "1989" with this collection of the songs in the same vein with rehashed lyrics. Only "Read for It" and "End Game" sound fresh, the other songs are either attention seeker or boring.

Overall, this is an okay pop album - at least each of the songs is pop enough to be acceptable. "King Of My Heart" is definitely the best track of the album, with a sweet yet upbeat vibe. The songs more obliquely inspired by these genres feature an awkwardly delivered mishmash of talking, singing and rapping. The production in these songs are worse, oft sounding dated, clunky and uninspired. In an attempt to sound edgier she has effectively recycled and reappropriated out-dated trap and electroclash clichés.

Similarly, her lyrics employ clichéd metaphors and analogies about committing crimes and seeing herself and her new beau as the next Bonnie & Clyde. The thematic depth she explores is never past a surface interpretation of what a reputation is, or any criticism of anyone as always an open attempt to drag them through the mud.

The songs on the album that fit a more melodic and synthpop direction feel more cohesive and work to the strengths of Taylor's voice and songwriting. However, in going in these directions she fails to set herself apart from her contemporaries and give a great sense of who she is as an artist.

Overall the album is an out-of-touch, bland attempt at rebranding while using the same sounds her Top 40 peers have used before and venturing in 'edgier' genres like rap/trap/electroclash only to use their clichés as well.

I really tried to like this album, I thought upon re-listening my opinion would change and she would be able to make the new sonic direction could work - unfortunately it's not well executed and sounds like her least fleshed-out and developed album to date.

It makes it seem like having a bad reputation is actually a good thing. I just don't align with her message anymore as someone who has never drank or partied (there are lots of other ways to have fun). I love her singing voice! But alas you don't really hear it at all in these songs, but my rating is a one instead of a zero because there are parts in every song where I'm reminded of how wonderful her voice is, and some lines are very catchy. Her lyrics are embarrassing and immature - you'd expect something beyond middle school cliches from a nearly-30-year-old woman, but somehow her songwriting was better when she was a teenager. she has zero self awareness and is completely self-obsessed and tone deaf, all of which is so obvious if you actually read the lyrics. they're cringe-worthy and frankly embarrassing. this album is so bland and lacks any character - something that used to set her apart from her peers. this album could be sung by anyone - it has none of the details or personal touches that used to make her interesting. the songs all blend together, which i guess is what people mean when they say the album is cohesive. there is not a single song on this that is objectively good - this is from someone who has seen her in concert multiple times and used to be a big fan. she has never been as talented a songwriter as people like to pretend (though when she first started, it was impressive for her age) but either she's completely lost it or the people she cowrote the songs with (she didn't write a single song on this by herself) are much worse than she is. the song she recently won a CMA for (better man) is lightyears better than anything on this horrible album - she should go back to that sound, because this is not working for her. no one will be listening to this a month from now. zero longevity or cultural relevance. her worst album by far, and the worst and most overhyped album of the year. some of the songs are so bad that it was literally painful listening to them all the way through. anyone praising this is deaf, delusional, 12 years old, or an obsessive stan unable to have a halfway objective opinion about anything taylor swift does. truly a horrible album. I wouldn’t necessarily have a problem with her going super mainstream though if the songs were actually good, but she seems to have this really strange ability to take almost good songs and ruin them with the most annoying hooks and lyrics. Examples include I Did Something Bad and Dancing With Our Hands Tied. Yet, as is the case more often than not, Taylor Swift comes through and pushes the new hottest singles of the year and makes a believer out of everyone, again. Reputation was a hard act to put in the spotlight after the superb "1989" proved Taylor was more than capable of being a pop heavyweight with more than just a hit or two. Here on Reputation, Taylor pulls some of the feel of "1989" and mixes it with some grittier electro-pop production which end up being some of the most interesting cuts available ("Don't Blame Me", "Look What You Made Me Do", "Ready For It"). Other potential hits include "Gorgeous" and "End Game", both featuring some of Taylor's established style and the later bringing in guest rap vocals to shake things up. As Reputation progresses, the gloss and grit slowly smooth out and it's more of "1989" which should be a welcomed fact for big fans that wanted more of the hit parade that was Taylor's last album. Reputation simply confirms that Taylor can hold her own atop the pop hill - dethroning her will take some serious muscle and those that would challenge her are far and few between as Maroon 5 aren't as trendy as they once were, Katy Perry is slowly drowning her own career. If you ask me, only Ariana Grande can challenge Taylor Swift for pop stardom and hit parades, everyone else is looking up at the show. Expand

"Look" is probably the worst first single of her career and one of the worst songs on the album, and there's plenty to choose. One of the many things that draw me closer to Taylor's music was her ability to create narratives with her songs, even when she made the transition to pop with 1989. With reputation, you can only see that on the great "Getaway Car", one of the few songs that production and lyrics got it right. The other one is "I Did Something Bad", which is everything that "Look What You Made Me Do" aspired to be. It has the right jabs in the right way (instead of going for the cringe way with "I don't like your tilted stage/No I don't like you"). For the rest of it, there's always something lacking, or too much of something. The lyrics are usually lacking, with a overuse of cringe-worthy lyrics that came straight out of the internet in what felt like an artificial try to sound "hype". I can't connect to her songs nor to the lover who she claims to be so great because he doesn't read gossip tabloids. For the first time in her career, the downsides of a record overshadowed the highs of it. Expand

But they are excellent songs like "Don´t blame me", "Look What You Made Me Do", "King of my heart" and "Call it what you want" (this last one the best of the album) In conclusion, reputation is something worthy to be listen. This wasn't as bad as I was expecting. As someone that was never into Taylor Swift, not when she became big making country pop tunes, and not when she reinvented herself and critics started calling her music "good" during the 1989-era (1989 was an okay album at best, but it did not deserve AotY at the Grammys), I had little to really gain from reputation. As someone that was never into Taylor Swift, not when she became big making country pop tunes, and not when she reinvented herself and critics started calling her music "good" during the 1989-era (1989 was an okay album at best, but it did not deserve AotY at the Grammys), I had little to really gain from reputation. It's an album that is about how the media views her and, at least to her, villifies her. Now while I will give Taylor this and find a lot of the gossip and criticism to be overblown, I do not really care about her life nor her epically messing up her image when Kim Kardasian shared that one video of Tay approving of Kanye's Famous line about her. Listening to this album without any context, it just raises question as to who is the machine and why is she raging against it. And even with context of the media and how it painted her, it doesn't really make a lot of sense, considering she's the one that lost the good girl narrative and her attempts at being the bad guy is just laughable. Look at What You Made Me Do is a prime example of this where I don't buy that she's taking the role of the villain, and her deflecting blame just does not work. It's much the same with other songs like I Did Something Bad and This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things, but the big issue with this album is that this theme of media representation is unbalanced, as 40% of it is about the media and 60% of it is romance songs about some guy and how she's head over heels for him and it's just so uninteresting. And it's even worse when you add context to these love songs because knowing her history of dating men and writing breakup songs afterwords, I don't buy songs like King of My Heart, Gorgeous, and So It Goes... that are about "true love." I'll buy it when I see it, but right now I just don't! Then there is the production, which isn't bad honestly. Much like 1989, reputation is another pop album from Tay that has her going in more electronic sounds, but unlike the 80s synthpop on her last album, this album moves towards electropop. And it's...a mixed bag. With songs like Look What You Made Me Do, Ready for It?, and End Game (which has Ed Sheeran and Future of all people dropping lines here), Tay has anthemic electropop tunes, I'll give her that, but she feels super out of place behind these trap and aggressive sounds, or they sound extremely dated when they turn into leftover dubstep wubs and drops that Skrillex wouldn't even use (the worse offender of that being I Did Something Bad). And speaking of trap, there are gentle songs that are more atmospheric and minimal, somehting Lorde would use during the Pure Heroine-era of her career, but with those harsh trap elements thrown on, it ruins songs like Call It What You Want and Gorgeous. There are a few songs I do kind of like. Delicate is a relaxing tropical house type song that's very bubbly (although it reminds me of a leftover beat from Troye Sivan's Blue Neighbourhood album), Getaway Car would fit very well on 1989, both in terms of the sound and lyrical theme, but that's a compliment, Dancing With Our Hands Tied is a solid EDM and dance-pop tune with an energetic kick-drum rhythm, and New Year's Day is a solid piano ballad and a solid closer at that. But honestly this doesn't win me over as a Swiftie. At least with 1989 it had her going in a mature direction and sees her growing up (and I don't mean mature like the song Dress I did NOT want a sex song from Tay), but with reputation I just see this as a regression than progression. If I at least bought what she was singing about or have me understand where she is coming from, I would be more forgiving than I already am. Expand

Nothing new in the Pop Mainstream Music Industry. Taylor Swift brought us an obnoxious album that is so boring to listen until the end; it is painful stop to listen all the 15 tracks (at least 12 tracks of it). "Reputation" was a worst attempt to show "angry", overcoming and criticism about stuffs that have been injuring Mrs. Taylor through these times, in addition to the lack of smartness in many parts of the lyrics through the record. And many of the tracks it's disposable, unfortunately, Taylor let her heartbreak take many of the lyrics that turned her appointments into an amount of ****

A not good track is "…Ready for It?" a noisy BAD ballad, super nasty and the repetition of "Let the games begin" uncountable times cause a feeling of irritability. "End Game", Taylor tried to gather Wine and Water (Ed Sheeran & Future). This environment between RAP and POP MUSIC, aesthetic, do not convince anybody that some music can be good/excellent just with this "searching for something new", or cool (OMG look at me mixing oil and water), it is tasteless. I think if Taylor had made a track with Ed and another one with Future, it will be less unpleasant to listen. However, Ed Sheeran's vocals are the only good thing in this track.

Even though this album can be a little bit god-awful, I should highlight "Look What You Made Me Do" with Taylor Swift singing (with a sexy voice [trying to be sexy or not, but causing this reaction]) softly and angrily at the same time. This music has one of the best instrumentals of the whole record, besides of the iconic part when she sings: "I'm sorry; the old Taylor can't come to the phone right now" "Why? "Oh, cause she's dead". In addition to "Don't Blame Me" that "OMG HIT ME HARDER WITH YOUR POTENTIAL GURL", and then for me, is the only track that I loved so far in "Reputation" that I could recommend for you guys to listen. This track exudes a sort of passion that is so strong than her persona to bear with it (comparing this relationship with a drugs' addiction), and it is beautiful, intense and lovely..

    BEST TRACK: “Don’t Blame Me”.
HIGHLIGHT: “Look What You Made Me Do”.

Taylor Swift's sixth album surprised me more than I thought it would. Not only is it different from her previous work but she isn't shying away from the "I'm the villain of my OWN story, eff you" trope. The four pre-released songs didn't do this album justice in a way of story telling as much as the other songs. The best songs on the album seem to include the Ed Sheeran and Future collab 'End Game', the fire filled 'I Did Something Bad', and the comedic but "tea spilling" song, 'This Is Why We Can't Have Bad Things'. I think this is no doubt the best pop album of the year. The production and lyricism are top notch. Her vocal have improved so much with this album. Taylor never fails to impress me. With every album she changes her sound and tries something new. Can’t wait to see what she does next.

Taylor Swift is a great songwriter. Your album has strong lyrics with striking beats. Worth a Note 10. The best album of his career. Estou viciada nisso

With touch of Lorde, Bleachers, and Electro-pop modern styles, this album is current, listenable, relatable, and bitter. Yes, people will complain because they want a happy kid friendly Swift with guitars and anthems. No, that doesn't mean its not another incredible album, because it is. Possibly her best.

Sometimes overly busy album. ... Swift soars when she is most herself. [Jan 2018, p.112]

Part rumination on engaging with the pop icon and part deep end even after eating the meal, Reputation keeps the ball in the air, argues for moving forward, even if it’s herky jerky.

Swift’s unencumbered analysis of the tectonic shifts within her personal and public life are equal parts razor sharp and self-indulgent. But as a pop album, Reputation is never revolutionary, the adrenalin rush heady but ultimately short-lived.
