I think this album flows better then their other two albums as if there was a purpose behind the music and lyrics. It was new and different and sounded great. The chord progressions sounded amazing as well as the many riffs played by Morello, Commerford, Wilk, and Cornell. I loved it.

Interesting that many critics slammed this - I can remember the same thing happening to Led Zeppelin in the 70s, that same band who critics now universally acclaim. I sense prejudice at work. ;)

I don't get the low rating that this album received. In my opinion, this is a very good album. I guess the "experts" do not like it because it doesn't sound like Britney Spears.

I odn't respect this album for a lot of reasons although some of them are less conservative then others. For example I respect lots of things about the artwork. Sometimes this isn't enough though and some of the songs on the album here do not entirely reveal it but they do suggest it. Its an interesting paradox and not fompletely, but of course partially revealing. Just think I odn't respect this album for a lot of reasons although some of them are less conservative then others. Superb fusion of funk & hardrock. Morello proves once again his absolute genius in writing riffs and intricate solo's. Cornell just gets better as a lyricist and a singer. Best album i've heard in last 2 years - easy.

Spotty album - bright points are songs Wide Awake, Moth & Shape of Things to come. The rest is ok with maybe 2 songs that are garbage. It gets a six because Cornell has so much more potential than this - not sure whether the 'Rage' guitarists are his best fit. Cornell needs to go with some artists that deliver less base and more fluent belting guitar riffs - like say Thornley. I think that Revelations is their best album to date. I know, they can do better (look a RATM, or Superuknown), but that doesnt mother now, the 00's arent the 90's and Audioslave is only Audioslave, maybe one of the best rock (real rock) around there. I hope they will come to Argentina this year or the next one...

this is probably the best work the RATM rhythm section has done in years, save for a couple of tracks on the first Audioslave record, even if the riffs and Morello solos have never strayed from the formula that worked so well on the first RATM record. Cornell's voice sounds stronger on Revelations, too, and the performances seem much more genuine than on Out of Exile. sadly, though, this is probably the best work the RATM rhythm section has done in years, save for a couple of tracks on the first Audioslave record, even if the riffs and Morello solos have never strayed from the formula that worked so well on the first RATM record. Cornell's voice sounds stronger on Revelations, too, and the performances seem much more genuine than on Out of Exile. sadly, though, the lyrics are retreads and run through the same themes as Cornell's prior work, but without the same sting and turn of phrase that made some of those prior works so incredible. watching the DVD that came with the record almost made me both laugh and cry, with Cornell and the rest of the band blathering on about their affinity for soul and r&b music. these cats are all pushing or beyond 40, and they're just now turned on to P Funk and James Brown? they drop all the same influences that any white kid would drop, without really revealing any love of the genre at all. kind of sad. I give this record a 7 because of Revelations, Original Fire and 4 or 5 of the latter tracks, all of which still showcase the promise this band could have if it really got back to making art and not money. Revelations by Audioslave does that devils dance of being truly incredible at times while not doing enough to keep your attention as a whole. Revelations, One And The Same and Original Fire are some of the best Alt-Rock songs I've heard in a long-time, but the record as a whole doesn

The already great band has finally come together as a powerful entity of memorable riffs and surprisingly powerful lyrics. Two of the songs ("Wide Awake" and "Shape of Things to Come") already feel Grammy worthy. A must buy for Audioslave fans, and a favored choice for rock album of the year.

Along the same caliber as the debut album, Revelations definitely is the funky ass-kicker that Tom promised. There is a few missteps, "Jewel of the Summertime" and "Somedays" can be a bit grating, but overall (as long as the band doesnt break up), this album seems to show the band heading toward revolutionary ground.

As far as this breed of music is concerned, Audioslave do pretty well at writing albums that i can throw on and rock out to with some buddies. This puts their first two albums to shame (and quite rightfully, I might add). Most tracks, and the album as a whole, cuts to the chase, delivers some genuinely enjoyable music and then gets the hell out of there. For the first time Audioslave actually leave me wanting more. Of course, I didn't get more because they disbanded soon after. Oh, the irony!

Revelations wasn’t Audioslave’s very best music on display, but not far off. It’s ridiculously funky and leg-jig provoking, as the band explored faster paced music, which does sound different to older Ausioslave. However, it’s not all different, as Sound of a Gun and Somedays prove, for example. In short: it’s gert good. Also, Jewel of the Summertime is too damn catchy.

In place of the band's distinctive head-banging limberness, there's a strange hybrid: a new sort of hard-rock soul, slightly lumbering in spite of its virtuosity. [Sep 2006, p.136]
