Not his best work but a lot of people still can't understand most of his lyrics in this record. Being truly honest, some songs aren't good, like "Need Me", but some others are just overhated for no reason.

Revival, when played in short bursts, can provide and feel like some of Eminem's best work of the 2010s, but when played the whole way through, it can feel tedious and dull.

Eminem's worst album, period. Definitely not my thing. Maybe people find this entertaining, i just find it uncreative and still trying too much to be impressive. The beats are awful, i agree that "River" With Ed Sheeran quite gave me some good feeling and had showed a nice chemistry between Marshall and Ed, but the rest was really not that good for me though.

It's not terrible but none of the songs are really worth listening to repeatedly. Eminem raps in his more contemporary style. Definitely one of Eminem's weaker albums, maybe his low point. Too many features from pop musicians and no standout singles that are bangers.

How he has managed to stay relevant for as long as he has, while not sacrificing any lyrical or sonic talent is truly incredible. As stated previously, he sacrifices no lyrical content with this release, as shown with such lines as "That booty is heavy duty, like diarrhea". Truly mesmerizing. But most of all, with this release, I'm glad to see that Marshall hasn't fallen into the abyss of the mumble (c)rap industry, along with the only real rappers out right now, like NF, Tom McDonald, Hopsin and Logic. Most rappers these days focus on the topics of drugs, sex, violence, and misogyny, while good Christian rappers like NF and Tom "keep it real", NF writing more motivational and uplifting music, and Tom "spitting facts" during all of his tracks. All in all, this was a great project, shining through the absolute **** surrounding it known as "modern-day hiphop" Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This album was not good to say it kindly. Let me start with what I like about it first. You see Marshall in some aspects growing and maturing as an artist and as a person. Songs such as "Walk On Water", "Believe", "In Your Head", "Castle" and "Arose" are songs that you saw Em really grow as a person. He also shows why he is one of the greatest lyricists of all time with songs such as "Offended" and "Framed". But that's where it ends. One of the biggest issues I have is how Em never stuck to the main theme of the LP. While promoting it, he would constantly talk about how this album was made to make some sort of awareness of the flaws that America has. But the album wasn't really about America or politics, It was more about Marshall. Don't get me wrong it's not wrong to make an album like that. I just find it sad that he hyped it up to be an album that was all about the issues of this country. But instead, we got "Recovery 2.0". Along with that, we had to deal with Rick Rubin producing an Eminem album, and that's just No! Eminem and Rick Rubin are both gonna be great in their respective positions. But the two of them just don't mix! The lack of a Hip-Hop feel and a more pop aesthetic really is a bummer. Like does somebody have to remind Eminem that he is a RAPPER and not a POPSTAR! Now with that being said with the inconsistencies of the album, songs that have nothing to do with the central them of the album(Offended, Framed, Remind Me, and Heat) Along with terrible production and awful hooks. I just don't see myself coming back to this project anytime soon. My final rating for this record will be 4.5/10.

Is this Eminem’s worst album? Yes.
Does that mean it’s a bad album? No.
Lyrically, Eminem is so far above any other artist out there. This is an engaging album, full of emotion and new things to say from Em. There are some suspect production choices, and the songs are so varied in content/style that you almost certainly won’t like every song. Still, this project is stronger than most

If anything, this album is proof that when people jump aboard the hate train because it’s the “cool” thing to do, the evidence doesn’t matter. Unless you have put your blinders on and have committed to hating everything Eminem puts out ever again, you will recognize this for the solid album it is.

I dont think this album is perfect, but it's definitely not as bad as many people have made it out to be. The only real song on here i find uninteresting is Untouchable mostly due to Em's delivery, other than that, every other song is perfectly fine. All of the guest hooks had great replay value and all of them were catchy as hell. Samples like "I Love Rock N Roll" and "Zombie" awesomely used and yet we get to hear a lot different types of flows and different sides of Eminem through out the album. Album sounds very cohesive and actually flows greatly from song to song. Starting as Em questioning and doubting himself (Walk on Water), then, suddenly starts to rip it apart with songs like (Believe and Choloraseptic). Castle & Arose might be the best concepts Em has ever did in his career. Must listen album.

By the way, after going back to the album 2 years later, I gotta say it's still a good effort. It's 7/10 or something but I just gave it full 10 points just to equalize all the hater ratings. You might not like it but if you call any album with such songs as Castle & Arose on, you're an hater.

I love the songs on the album, but some of them are unnecessarry. The album should've been shorter, and the production could've been way better.

Not bad at all. I don't understand why this album got so much hate, it has all the contents of any other album, its got the complex rhymes, dre on the beats, only difference is the producer

A painful listen with unbearable performances from Eminem. He's a corny, watered down, and overall horrendous version of himself on this record. The reason it isn't a 0 or 1 is because of a couple passable verses and a couple really good features (Beyonce and Ed Sheeran).

A very disappointing album with only a few genuinely good tracks. These being 'Castle' 'Framed' and 'Offended'. A bland beat selection and too many damn pop features are two of this album's most glaring problems.

Very good album that some people hate because the message or the features but at the end is a very good body of work with rock beats and excellent lyrics.

His penmanship has always been top notch. On tracks like walk on water, river, arose, castle, framed and bad husband Em has a way with words that is very impressive. Only a couple tracks I don't like on the album otherwise, it's a good album with a very personal feeling to it.

Eminem becomes everything he hates on this album. He is washed up, making nothing but poor pop tracks and rapping about Trump on the whole album. He shoots for To Pimp A Butterfly, but instead creates a heaping pile of garbage.

Revival is one of the worst albums that Eminem has put together and the biggest disappointing albums coming from an Eminem fan. But there are some highlights on the album, but there are also a lot of lowlights on the album. Like for example on the song "Need Me" ft Pink the song is basically a Pink song that could have been on Pinks project, which was one of the worst songs on the album.Revival is one of the worst albums that Eminem has put together and the biggest disappointing albums coming from an Eminem fan. Some of the features on this album are pop artists and only one rapper on the album. Some features I do like like Beyonce, Alicia Keys, Skylar Grey, and Kehlani do a pretty good job at the hooks. While other artists like Ed Sheeran and Phresher(which I never heard of him before until now) who has his a verse on one song is ok. There are way too many rock samples productions on the album, which I don't mind rock sample, but putting way too many rock samples is not my cup of tea. This album, aside from the last two songs, gives me a headache. They relied too much on "Walk on Water" to become the next Bohemian Rhapsody and it didn't work. Will go down as a weak comeback album.

'Revival' is not even close to Eminem's best album, but it's still decent. The thing is, with an artist like Eminem, his worst work (which in my opinion is Encore) is still something worth listening to. I think songs like "Walk On Water", "River", "Believe", "Framed", "Like Home", "Tragic Endings", "Remind Me", and "Castle/Arose" were all highlights of this album. I think there are songs on here which cater to different sections of his fanbase, which always turns out terribly unfortunately. I think the real reason why this album was so panned is because he alienated half of his fans by telling them to go to hell if they supported President Trump, and because the ad campaign behind it was not very effective. As to why it was panned by critics, it honestly beats me. I do find it funny that the social justice critics didn't come to Eminem's defense when he was talking about legitimate issues with America's politics and racial inequalities. I guess they're still triggered about his edgy lyrics from the past. Most of the users who are leaving bad reviews on the album probably have an issue with the production and choice of beats, and honestly that's my biggest issue. Some of the beats were a little too bland, and Rick Rubin's production was horrible. But to rate this album a 0 is ******* ridiculous, and I'm tempted to give a score of 10 just to offset those morons. Ultimately, this album feels like a less impressive version of Recovery, and I hope he does less pop features in the future, and returns to rapping over legendary Dr. Dre beats. Overall, my final score is between a 7 and 7.5, thanks for reading! Expand

So when Eminem stops dying his hair blonde and stops using a lot of gay slurs in his songs, his music becomes dull and unlistenable according to these stupid critics. This album was amazing because it shows the mature side of Eminem.

Simply one of the worst albums and attempts at music I've ever heard. Pathetic lyricism and composition. Eminem used to be quite good, one of the best of his time... Now he is truly one of the worst.

The album sounds like a demo, a really bad one. I wonder who actually wrote the album, eminem or a 13-year-old. The answer may be both, eminem's immaturity is unquestionable.

I mean it was fine. The first half of the album I can easily say that I disliked, with the only track really liking being River, which is my favourite song featured in revival. It may be because of the story conveyed through the song, or the great hook by Ed Sheeran, but I to be honest love that song. Now the album gets kinda better after the track "Bad Husband". From there till the end the album is a more solid, with the exceptions being the god-awful "Heat" with the unbearable country music and "Castle" with one of the most uninteresting chorus in the entire album. Now except "River", the other songs that I like are "Framed", which I have liked more and more as I've listened it, taking in account that I thought that the chorus was laughable the first time I've heard it and now believing that that was the point. I also liked "Tragic Endings" and found "Nowhere Fast" quite underrated. Yes I was not a big fan of "Walk on Water" as I thought it was kinda dumb.
What I noticed is that my favourite songs except River and Framed are the ones that feature other artists and it became obvious that I got quickly tired of Eminem in this album and that may be why so many other singers were involved. But still, I didn't hate myself listening to it and I would give it a light 6/10.

On very first listen I had felt like this album was a 7.5/10 and figured it was really solid, but within a few weeks of that review I really regretted it so I am redoing it now even if it is quite late. This is probably Eminems worst album, which is saying a lot. There is no coherence in terms of lyrical content or production except for both being mostly awful.
The Rick Rubin rock tracks are terrible, the samples are lazy and many beats sound like demos. There are desperate attempts to make a hit, but they sound like pop songs from around 2010. It's like Recovery, but even lazier.

The lyrics are often cringeworthy (there are so many terrible punchlines), and there is almost nothing new thematically. Eminem raps about failed relationships, his past drug abuse, being a serial killer, how great he is and occasionally about politics (there isn't nearly as much political stuff on this album as some people claim). Been there, done that. His anti trump hymn is well intentioned, but it brings nothing new to the table and fails to be as biting as his BET freestyle. It's to concerned with being a radio pop hit (which it failed to become).
The only highiights are the lead single and opening track "Walk on Water", which finds Eminem struggling with his own expectations and those of fans and critics. To bad this humble stance he takes is pointless, since there is so much "I'm the best"-talk on the rest of the album. The other tracks worth listening to close the album out. "Castle" and "Arose" are about Eminems near fatal overdose, and even though we've heard him tell this story a lot by now, the tracks are well crafted and quite touching. They also sound like they belong on the same album, unlike the majority of the songs on here.
The Rest of "Revival" is just unfocused, badly written and badly produced. One can only wonder why Eminem, on of the best MC's ever, insists on making these poppy albums that sound like they were recorded a decade ago. Without being mastered. It's not like he needs the money or anything, and album sales show that this isn't even what the people want.
"Revival" sounds like Eminem didn't even really try, and if he did, he's really out of touch with his audience and hip hop in general.

A bad Eminem album is still better than many other albums that are made every year. With that said, this is a pretty bad Eminem Album. It has its moments, but it feels 20 minutes too long. It feels like a better version of Relapse, but it's much closer to Relapse than any of his other work.

At least a third of the tracks are songs I could do without. The other two-thirds show that whether you love or hate the modern day Marshall Mathers, he's still as relevant as he ever was.
