    The Liverpudlian four-piece are gifted with penning peppy indie-pop, the melodies that lift the likes of ‘Be Your Drug’ and ‘Move To San Francisco’ are spiky and infectious but ultimately stick to a well-worn formula that produces middling results.

    Particularly pleased that, unlike many musical products, it does not stew, having exceeded half the plate and does not become boring. The whole album is listened dynamically, without losing its drive, despite the differences in emotional moods. "Sad Happy" will be an excellent companion in a car trip, at a friendly party and just in your ears, walking around the city. In general, the fire of youthful romanticism and the charge of a brighter future.    … Expand

Similar to Vampire Weekend, you appreciate that there is something going on here but whether it is something new, interesting and worth stopping to investigate is another matter. For me it is bog standard indie pop with little edge. Also, a 40 minute double album is what I'd call having a laugh. This is hardly an epic body of work that warrants a double release and smells of gimmickery.… Expand
