Satis Factory is a damn fine album, made by someone who clearly loves the sounds and vibes of records old enough to be her mother. ... But you can only wish she’d do something slightly more original with them, because she only serves to undermine her own talent by shamelessly peddling music that other folks have done, and done better.

Tackling interesting ideas and putting rock through an avant garde filter, Mattiel Brown’s powerful vocals once again impress too on what ultimately feels like a significant step forward.

The rollicking, Rivieras-evoking organ-rock tune "Berlin Weekend" is just one of several other worthwhile stops on a 12-track album that ups the ante on an already attention-grabbing debut.

It's an excellent record that both hits immediately and gets better with repeated listens. [Summer 2019, p.112]

For all the Tarantino growl and spaghetti western shlock of opener Til the Moment of Death, this second album carries itself with more assurance than last year’s eponymous debut, with songcraft and witty wordplay coming to the forefront.

I have to have a laugh and a bit of a "what?" every time I see people compare this singer to Tarantino fllms, a half dozen old time rock folksI have to have a laugh and a bit of a "what?" every time I see people compare this singer to Tarantino fllms, a half dozen old time rock folks etc. In my view she is outrageously original if for one reason only: SHE USES HER WHOLE VOICE. No powder puff sentimental feminine spray here, folks. Uh uh.
But as I say, that is only one element that makes this singer/group original. Yet really, really rock. The musicians are really tight. The compositions are catchy, as they say. I can listen to the album, go out onto my riding lawnmower and find myself running one of them through my head. I like that!
