The BEST debut that I've ever heard! It's FANTASTIC! Sawayama's literally a refreshing pop album that the industry needed. With nuances, mixes, and different genres that only Rina Sawayama would could combine in an album. THE BEST! (and plus: the colored vinyl is FCKING BEAUTIFUL)

A thrilling adventure through genres and production styles that also explores personal stories of pain and loss while also keeping the catchiness of pop music. The only drawback in my mind is the lack of progression in some songs, making them stale to listen to more than a few times.

Saat mendengarkan album penuhnya, kepala saya benar-benar meledak! Wah! The result is a post-modern pop masterpiece that never leaves a dull beat. It's exciting, vibrant, colorful, and new from start to finish. It is sincere, smart, satirical at moments, but ultimately fun and heart-felt. I pray for much more genre experimentation in the future, because it would be so easy for Rina and her team to direct the sails towards what analytics say their audience wants vs. making the album they need to make and telling the stories they need to tell. Keep challenging your audience, Rina!!

I enjoyed the first 6 songs a lot. Dynasty reminded me of the edginess of the early 2000s, XS is an anti pop song that rants on late stage capitalism, STFU is... damn, Commes des Garçons is a androgynous critic to traditional masculinity, Akasaka Sad is her own analysis of her own cultural identity and heritage with a banger beat and superb chorus, and paradisin sounds like an 80s girly pop song but with realistic lyrics that show that teenage years are just that and nothing out of the ordinary

From this point on the journey through different genres fused with pop narrows significantly. Yes, it still goes around different styles of music, and while none of them are bad by any means, they just do not feel as special as the first half. And don't get me wrong, I really mean it when I say none of them are bad, songs like Chosen Family or Bad Friend are great, but they don't quite hit the stylish and over the top feeling of the first half, and it doesn't quite feel like the style and sound are connected with the lyrics as good as it did on the first songs.. until Snakeskin, which returns to the first half's feeling but, does not feel like an ending at all, despite being a great song.

But what confuses me the more, is that Sawayama herself apparently did this intentionally, releasing this songs as singles to give the impression that this album was different, but apart from those songs, the rest, while to an extent they're different, do not feel as experimental and stylish as the others.

Overall, it's a great record, even with its flaws, and I'd recommend it a lot.

I was hesitant, as Twitter has let me down before in regards to music (andBruh, I don't even have the words. Cvnt, the album is perfect, my personal (and honestly the objective) album of the year. I even bought the vinyl -TWICE (accidentally but still). I first heard about 'SAWAYAMA' and Rina Sawayama from Twitter, and her videos began popping up on my recommended page on Youtube. I was hesitant, as Twitter has let me down before in regards to music (and everything). From the very first track 'Dynasty' I was hooked, It has to be one of the best opening tracks to an album in the history of music. And that track isn't even my favourite from the album, it is tied between 'Fvck This World' and 'STFU!!'. The album was the last straw to my own realisation that I thoroughly enjoyed Nu-Metal and Hyperpop and has led me to listen to more artists like Dorian Elektra. There are so many genres and styles within the album but it still feels cohesive through the messages of the songs, such as capitalism, queerness, guilt, alienation, acceptance etc. these relatable themes make the album almost a manifesto of sorts and elevate the album as a whole. The album is too good to not be mainstream. I've begged my friends to listen to it, I only do that for very certain albums that I think will better their lives and this is definitely an album that does. It cured my quarantine blues and I continue to listen to it every day. I cannot wait for the deluxe album to drop and also see the general public become more aware of Rina, as already seen from recognition from many news outlets, public performances on television and even mf Elton John saying it was his album of the year!!!! listen to the Icon and listen to this album.

This album is the best things that I listened to in this year.
It's perfect, gorgeous and beautiful, the unfair fact is that Grammy didn't nominated this album for AOTY.

This is absolutely fire. Rina kills it with her vocals, blended with amazing choices for production on every song on this album. From the build-up on Dynasty, to her sampling her prior work in 10-20-40 and Take Me As I Am on Rina in F*** This World (Interlude), she does no wrong on this album and it's an amazing listen whether it be the first time listening or the enthh time listening.

I consider this album to be very overrated. I find it very basic and bad. My honest opinion is that the album is bad, basic, and it is the same that you find in any artist, the songs on this album I find not very enjoyable, besides that it is somewhat boring. However, I must clarify that the album is fine, some tracks are good (but I repeat) they are very basic. This album is bad and II consider this album to be very overrated. On this stunning debut, Sawayama captures Dua Lipa's future nostalgia and Poppy's metal-meets-pop savvy, rightfully making it her own with more depth, bigger thrills, and a limitless palette.

The album is a complicated picture of Swayama’s past, present, and future. It is rare to see a debut album with such a fully realized voice and vision behind it. What’s more, she exorcises her personal demons amid some of the year’s best dancefloor-filling pop.
