Beautiful. I gave it a 10 to balance out the ridiculous 0s it's received. I think it deserves an 8.5.

Great debut. Haunting and stays with you long after listening to it.

Gorgeous first album, with songs that just grow on you each time you play them. I think the problem that some people have is that the music is so subtle and understated that they miss the intricacies first time round - have some patience, people, and try listening again. I play it all the time in my car and, no, I haven't fallen asleep at the wheel - I find it ideal for soothing allGorgeous first album, with songs that just grow on you each time you play them. I play it all the time in my car and, no, I haven't fallen asleep at the wheel - I find it ideal for soothing all notions of road rage when someone cuts me up or does something equally anti-social. Great music to chill out by, whatever stresses and strains you need to escape from. Expand

Nominated for a Mercury Music Prize in 2009 - it is quite good but not sure if it was so good it warranted a nomination. The majority of the record has nice, up tempo songs - a big change from her days backing Damien Rice. Well worth a listen but it's fairly gentle stuff and sometimes it can be a bit pedestrian. I saw Lisa play the record live and have to say I appreciated it a lot moreNominated for a Mercury Music Prize in 2009 - it is quite good but not sure if it was so good it warranted a nomination. A really impressive debut. LH is such a talented song-writer. Her unique voice has real warmth but gives an edginess to the songs if that makes sense. It's a really accomplished album. brilliantly constructed songs, but never contrived... I love it.

  1. Hannigan may be introspective, but she knows how to coax a melody into the sunlight.
  2. Though Sea Sew is a folk album, the music here is thrillingly lush.
  3. Unassuming and refreshingly lacking in the pretension of so many contemporary folk-pop records, Sea Sew makes for both a challenging and a charming proper introduction for Hannigan.
