Producers Dave Kaplan and Dave Darling have sanded the new arrangements of smooth oldies such as Gentle on My Mind down to the rough grain. The result is a deeply moving record--a warm, valedictory squeeze of the listener’s hand from the cowboy hunk.

There's little studio sweetening applied to Campbell's boy-next-door voice, a smart move that gives his age and condition the honest respect he's earned in what's been a difficult but brave fight.

New versions of Wichita Lineman and Gentle On My Mind are sparser than the originals, if no less affecting, but pale in comparison to the impossibly tender reading of By The Time I Get To Phoenix.

[It] only adds to the glory of his catalog. [No. 101, p.53]

If this proves to be the country legend's final album, it's a mighty and very fine way to bow out.

No one can actually improve on the perfection of "Wichita Lineman," but the version of "Rhinestone Cowboy" included here, stripped down to grunge guitar and a Willie Nelson-esque vocal, is bold and definitive. [Aug 2013, p.68]

Except for hitting the odd unfamiliar note, as on an exquisitely lap-steel and fingerpicked Galveston, the singer's vocals sound unchanged, still keening and honey-pure. [Aug 2013, p.89]

See You There is still quite a marvelous record with many more peaks than valleys.

The results in no way surpass those towering originals--how could they, when songs such as “Wichita Lineman” and “Galveston” are towering peaks on the map of popular music? These new takes do offer some worthy alternative perspectives.

What could be a late-game throwaway instead has near-definitive versions of "Wichita Lineman," "Galveston" and "Gentle on My Mind," conjuring the originals with a patina of age and minus the arrangement lard.

Surprisingly the results are pretty great and even if they won’t make you forget the often charmingly dated originals.
  12. See You There revisits his classics as well as finding room for one new track and a beauty of an alternate version of "What I Wouldn't Give."

See You There may turn out to be Glen Campbell’s swansong and, if that is the case, it’s a fair testimony to the man.

The music wisely remains sombre; eschewing the cheesy crescendo you kinda fear is coming at the chorus only for it to stick to gloom as the vocals reach to be optimistic.
