    If In Flames' last decade of material has been your cup of tea, than Siren Charms is likely to sit well with you, but for those still holding out for a return to the glory of their work from the '90s, the wait continues.

    Comparing to what the band has done in recent years though, Siren Charms is still an unforgivable misstep containing oversights in both songwriting and execution that such a veteran band should be able to spot and correct.

    Perhaps it is possible that In Flames might not have completely destroyed their careers with Siren Charms but what this album does prove isPerhaps it is possible that In Flames might not have completely destroyed their careers with Siren Charms but what this album does prove is that In Flames’ has sealed the deal with their decision to not take a look back at, or perhaps maybe even take a crack at, their past. It’s an interesting idea to say the least, as it does open some doors as to what they plan for on their next album. Not to mention there are some decent moments to be found here. But for the most part, In Flames’ stab at radio rock seems to have made them dive down to a sea of complacency. They say that they’re comfortable with the direction that their going, hell they may even actually be comfortable with it, but as a result of their unfortunate lack of competence, Siren Charms is nothing more than a bland, uninteresting, and perhaps an unapologetic record to their fans, both old and new.… Expand

Dispite their previous work after Clayman being criticized as no longer being Melodeath I didn't think they were all too bad. Always liked their older work more, but it wasn't bad. This is an all time low for In Flames and personally, I think they sold out and attempted to get mainstream/pop to make more money. I think if they're going to keep going in this direction they should just put the band to rest before shaming it if they haven't done so already with this album. I'm not giving it a bad rating just because they're no longer Melodeath. I love pretty much all Metal and I'm not the person who cries "METALCORE ISN'T METAL". If it's metal, it's metal, but straight up this album just sounds bad in every possible way.… Expand
