  • Summary: The newly reconfigured Philadelphia band, known mainly for their carnivalesque, acquired-taste sound and well-received live shows, return with a second LP.

  1. Live it’s easy to ignore the subtleties of the songs, which makes Six Demon Bag a different, but equally great experience.
  2. A subtle improvement on the band’s debut.

Here they fe-fi-fo-fum with the exacting crankiness of carny punks who've seen it all. [Mar 2006, p.95]

A great album but, compared to their live shows, this is like listening to a circus. [Aug 2006, p.100]
  5. They’ve gotten good at re-creating in the studio the sound of a dingy rock venue in full throb.
  6. Each moment of each song is completely unpredictable, to the point where even after multiple listens some of these transitions still seem to come out of nowhere.
  7. Most of this stuff is just too damn weird for all but the most experimental music listener.

They have risen to the ranks of old Man Man's second album is just as good as their first effort "The Man in a Blue Turban with a Face." They have risen to the ranks of old school Waits, Zappa, Zorn and the Residents. For those Mr. Bungle fans who have been waiting for a similar sound, look no further, Honus Honus is your savior. Engrish Bwudd, Black Mission Goggles, Push The Eagles Stomach, and Tunneling Through The Guy will have all "Experimental Rock" fans yearning for more. Two opposable thumbs up. Expand
