For all the thrills that Pixx’s precocious ambition offers on Small Mercies, it’s Hannah Rodgers’ vulnerability and restless search for comfort within herself that drives it.

Small Mercies may not be quite as immediate as The Age of Anxiety, but it's fizzing with energy and ideas that prove that Pixx the right person to sing about what's wrong with the world.

Rogers remains her forcefully idiosyncratic self throughout, endlessly impressive in her ability to draw on electro-pop history yet not be beholden to its past. [Summer 201, p.115]

With Dirt interlude pt. 1 and pt. 2, Rodgers structures the record to complement her narrative--leaving us with these three acts against misogyny, and again evidence of the sheer intricacies of talent that dance through the record.

There are far more high points than low, all of which indicates that Pixx’s third album could well be something very special.

Small Mercies doesn't highlight a single aspect of musicality within a track. Pixx doesn't take a riff and make it the centrally active part. The sum really is greater than its parts in Pixx's latest effort.

Small Mercies is not a complete success, but Pixx’s creative voice remains unique.

Lyrically, Rodgers can be stilted and adolescent at times, but she hits the sweet-spot on the compellingly stern electro-goth chant "Disgrace" and the terrific title track. [Jul 2019, p.33]

The end result is a rewardingly eclectic mix, if not slightly discombobulating.

Ace second album, especially the first five songs. Title track is excellent.
