Album starts strong with its opener but falls victim to overproduction and simply boring tunes. A couple of good cuts here, but it's marred down with an album that's not worth more than one listen.

I am not sure that this album is as good as "A Different Kind of Fix". However, this is another excellent one by Bombay Bicycle Club.

If "A Different Kind of Fix" is equivalent to Radiohead's "OK Computer", then "So Long, See You Tomorrow" would be "Kid A" (I'm not saying that those albums are as good as one another). It offers more of the same kind of music, but its style is just

It offers more of the same kind of music, but its style is just different enough to stand out enough on its own.

"So Long, See You Tomorrow" is hard to say what type of style it actually would fall under because every song sounds pretty different just as the songs did on "A Different Kind of Fix". I would say the songs on here are better written and less reliant on repeating riffs like say on "How Can You Swallow So Much Sleep" and "Shuffle".

Those negative reviews I read are absolutely CRAZY! I will say that. I would like to have a conversation with each of those journalists about this album. To me this is what music is supposed to sound like--lots of layers and melodies accompanying each other to make something beautiful and unique.

Anyways, I would buy the whole album. You shouldn't be disappointed by a single song on here, unless "Carry Me" is too experimental for you.

The general feeling I get from this record is one of underwhelming. I really enjoyed its predecessor "A Different Kind of Fix" and still think its a record well worth checking out. It is listenable throughout and there are a couple of interesting moments but too much of it sounds like Bombay Bicycle Club on autopilot. Take "Feel" for example, a track that starts off with an interesting eastern infused melody before drifting away into tap along mediocrity. "Come To", the album's penultimate track is the standout, a great electronica based track, full of imagination and weird little samples and this is hopefully a sign of things to come from the band. The best thing about this band is that they have freely explored many musical styles and so have not become too rooted or anchored by one genre. Every album is like hearing a new band and this one is no different. They have really committed to surprising us. Here you hear them meddle with some Bollywood sounds (IKR?!) and delve into a bit of soft trance occasionally. Inoffensive and uninteresting. By far their worse release yet. I get the feeling they'll never make anything better than their debut. Bland guitar tones and uppity drum beats, boyish vocals and perfectly bland harmonies. Nothing here for me to return to. At least their 2nd and 3rd albums had a bit of character, even if i wasn't digging them too much.

For their fourth album, Bombay Bicycle Club create a work of vision and excitement. "So Long, See You Tomorrow" is full of more ideas than the ambitious band can handle. Tackling an eclectic range of influences, including alternative, indie rock, disco, trance, and even (yes,) Bollywood, the album sounds like the musical expressions of a weary but adventurous traveler who has just come back from a long and expansive tour. "So Long, See You Tomorrow" is perfect for audiences who enjoyed the most recent albums from contemporaries Broken Bells, St. Lucia, WALK THE MOON, and Two Door Cinema Club. The entire album sustains a stress-free vibe and an uplifting mood, reflected in the nonchalant, feel-good lyrics and colorful album cover. "So Long, See You Tomorrow" is a brilliant listen for any alternative music aficionado.

Compared to A Different Kind of Fix, where tracks frequently jumped out, So Long feels slightly less memorable for me; you can definetely hear the ambition with this band, but simultaneously, there's alot missing as well that was definetely their on their undoubtedly best album A Different Kind....

Vibrant and bursting with hypnotic beauty, "So long see you tomorrow" is the lost gold Bombay Bicycle club have been striving to achieve for years. A truly unforgettable album!

An entrancing, accomplished, and often uplifting record that will be heralded by the time the semi-tropics of a British summer arrive. A triumphant return.

In and of itself, So Long, See You Tomorrow is more or less flawless BBC; their music has always been polite, erudite and winsome, and that beat does not skip here.

An unexpected album, but at the same time one that never feels anything less than a completely natural progression. [Feb/Mar 2014, p.80]
