Self-indulgent clap-trap! Wristband and Cool Papa Bell are passably catchy but the rest is so awful as to leave a person dumbfounded.

This album is an example of what happens when an artist runs out of ideas but has no editor or close supporting cast to tell him that his latest creations are drivel. On the other hand, perhaps Paul noticed just how much talky, rappy, folksy nonsense

This album is an example of what happens when an artist runs out of ideas but has no editor or close supporting cast to tell him that his latest creations are drivel. On the other hand, perhaps Paul noticed just how much talky, rappy, folksy nonsense is passing for music out there today, and just wanted to cash in one more time.

I've been a fan since the beginning, but this album is a smack in the face to fans who deserve better from a Paul Simon album. Shame...

[A] challenging, deeply odd at times and hugely enjoyable album.

Musically, it’s his most adventurous album since Graceland, filed with strange rhythmic kinks and a junkyard’s worth of barely identifiable sounds.

With so much powerful percussion on display, it takes a few listens before you finally settle down and appreciate the more intimate and painstakingly-beautiful arrangements that fall in between Stranger to Stranger’s colossal thunderclaps.
