Even when West’s going in uncomfortable directions, his music feels alive.

A madcap sense of humor animates all his best work, and The Life of Pablo has a freewheeling energy that is infectious and unique to his discography. Somehow, it comes off as both his most labored-over and unfinished album, full of asterisks and corrections and footnotes.

It’s this unholy amalgam of anger and swagger and self-loathing and--above all--love, all served over some of the best production work the man has ever done.

[He] has perfected the art of aesthetic and intellectual bricolage, shape-shifting in real time and counting on listeners to keep up. More than on any of his previous albums, "Pablo" reflects that rambling, fearsome energy. This is Tumblr-as-album, the piecing together of divergent fragments to make a cohesive whole.

The other way to look at the erratic Pablo is as an "instant" LP, one that was mastered at the last minute and debuted via streaming. On that count, it's a fascinating, magazine-like experience with plenty of reasons to give it a free play, and with "Feedback" adding "name one genius that ain't crazy" to the mix, Pablo excuses itself from the usual criticisms, although it could have been tighter.

Despite the embarrassment of riches, though, there's also a lot of plain old embarrassment. [May 2016, p.110]

Sounds like a work in progress rather than a finished album.

This album is insane. I have not enjoyed any album this much for a while. Production wise this album is great. Lyrics are bit on and off there for sure. But the whole album sounds so **** good that you forget about the lyrics.
I think Kanye's main focus was on production and combining his earlier innovations into this one masterpiece. Musically it is intended to be incohesive since it combines different genres.Thematically upto 'waves' it is pretty tight and kanye has mentioned 30 hours as a bonus track on the track itself. So after that its just a bunch of excellent songs.
While MBTDF(again 10) was great both lyrically and sonically it had some lengthy songs on second half of the .album.
This album while falling short lyrically covers that shortcoming neatly. Some songs are sweet version of 'Yeezus' songs .
I headbanged so hard on Highlights ! Mannn!

IThis albums comes across as one of Kanyes more experimental types of Albums.. The album really "kept me on my toes", as I was listening. I really didn't know what to expect from the next track, nor even mid listening in to one of the tracks.

Hand down, this album has the best build ups to any of Kanyes tracks though. "Father stretch my hands Pt. 1" & "Low Light" got me really excited when hearing after multiple times..

I dont think this album beats MBDTF nor 808's although I believe it compares fairly close. West only seems to be getting more experimental every Album and I love it..
